Unknown villain. The ace hits a good portion of his 3betting range. Do I need to fold here?

Stacks:
UTG - UTG ($14.23)
UTG+1 - UTG+1 ($21.16)
MP - MP ($6.76)
MP2 - MP2 ($10.15)
CO - Hero ($11.76)
BTN - BTN ($12.06)
SB - SB ($12.70)
BB - BB ($10.00)

Preflop: ($0.15, 8 players) Hero is CO with 7 7
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.28, BTN raises to $0.99, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.71

Flop: 4 5 8 ($2.13, 2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: T ($2.13, 2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, BTN calls $0.50

River: A ($3.13, 2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $2.98

I probably fold pre tbh. Medium pairs OOP in 3bet pots are hard to play well.

As played, river is an easy fold.

77 would be close to the bottom of my calling range pre, and it's basically a set-mine. If you're flatting with some suited Broadways and T9s, your range will have 88, and some Tx combos that can bet the turn for value. Maybe it's OK to use this hand as a protection bet/semi-bluff on the turn (trying to make villain fold AK), but betting a quarter pot is unlikely to work very often, so you'd be hoping for a river blank (unless you bink the gutter) and check-check if villain calls turn. This river is therefore a terrible card for you, as it connects well with villain's flop checks. He's got so many AK/AQ combos that you should check-fold river.

Yeah this is pretty much my range for this spot. What sizing would you recommend if we bet the turn here?

Maybe bump it up to 75c? I don't think it makes a huge difference.

betting a quarter of the pot also means we don't need our bluffs to work very often

I like the sizing, I wouldn't go over 1/3 pot
