Why should I go to your college? Why should I go to your college?

12-28-2009 , 01:34 AM
Sell me on why your college is special.

I'm finishing up my 2 year college studies and am looking for the best 4 year college or university. I can do all the looking at Princeton Review and other ranking sites that I want, but I'm interested in some personal feeling about your school. There's alot about a college that can't be measured by a simple ranking.

What makes your school special? Why would you recommend someone attending? I'm sure others are doing the same search I am. So help us out and rep your school.

University of Waterloo (thats in Canada)

If you follow poker you know why.

Seriously tho: It is the largest co-op program in North America. If ur into engineering, math, computer science UW is the best. Great reputation among employers.

- A lot of decent looking girls(no asu or anything liek that but a lot of ****ables imho)
- Nice campus
- Nice sized college
- Not too far from AC
- Good academics in a variety of fields
- We developed the technology in the iphone touch screen?

Also we(about 10 min away) have buses that go to NYC/Philly/Washington DC...We are close to a lot of major cities

I was hoping this to be for more then just myself. Most of those standard things can be found on Princeton Review. Anyway, I'll be going to grad school in engineering so any major university will be acceptable. Pretty much all those parts play roll in where I'll end up going, but I will most likely avoid small schools.

Theres some decent engineering here.

Atlanta has lots of mediocre sports teams as well.

University of Waterloo is internationally famous for its engineering program

But has the absolute worst night life and social scene ever. Waterloo offers maybe 3 acceptable bars, and even then, those bars suck.

UF:

Pros:
Decent campus.

50,000 people so obviously you can find hot girls here. (55% female)

Good athletics (although this year we lost Urban Meyer, and the SEC championship....)

Decent Party School

Good weather

relatively close to the beach ( about an hour and half drive from either coast)

Cons:
The size of the school forces a lot of the early undergrad classes to be very large and sink or swim. ( Being a transfer this shouldn't affect you too badly.)

There are several college bars around etc.. but Gainesville is a relatively small town.

Florida is def a top option, but I'm thinking about UCF.
12-29-2009 , 02:04 PM
I attend UCF now. Great school, great party spots.

30-45 mins from downtown orlando, disney, universal.

52,000 students we are the third largest public university in the United States.

Also, the ladies are beautiful for sure.

Engineering major? Great, our school is right next to Lockheed Martin and NASA I have several friends that have done paid internships at NASA.

Anymore questions just holla!

I went to UCF before UF. It's not bad school. Nice campus, hot girls, and Orlando is OK to live in.

One of the things I really like about UF over UCF is the bus system. Because gainesville is so small, the bus system is basically centered around the university. They have buses that run downtown and on university avenue until 3 in the morning so you can go get wasted at the bars and not have to worry about driving. At UCF there really isn't much of a bus going to campus, and the lynx system for the city is terrible so if you want to go out and drink you always have to have a D.D.

I go to a military college. Guy to girl ratio = 16-1. Fun is not allowed. Waking up at 0530 everyday is mandatory, as is PT 3 times a week. PM if interested.
12-31-2009 , 11:59 PM
I'll pass on that one.

What are the chances OP gets with one of these girls? < 1%?

See, but that doesn't matter. If you saturate the college with hot girls then my odds go up, and the normal girls I'd hook up with anyway become that much easier.

McGill University. Located downtown Montreal, with atleast 8 good clubs and 12 good bars within a 20 minute walking distance. Named one of Playboy's Top Ten Party Schools. Chick to dick ratio roughly 3-2. Youth friendly legal drinking and gambling age (18). When our old high school friends go nuts over PBR keggers in the States or other Canadian provinces, we are learning the finer points of high quality liquor such as scotch or fine wine by sampling them (I've discovered The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak (yeah, no way I can afford the 18) is the elixir of the gods and I cannot enjoy wine for some godforsaken reason). Absinthe is legal and lovely here too. French Canadian chicks.

Academics wise, McGill has a great arts program. Science and engineering are good too but if you're into that, your best bet is probably Waterloo (except you miss out on everything I listed in the first paragraph). We also have the prestige factor going for us.

School spirit is great here. If you and your friends are stumbling drunk off your asses on St. Catherine or St. Laurent at 4am on Friday night, and you decide to bellow out a McGill Chant, I guarantee another group will drunkenly join in. Lots of annual party events to bind us together here, 3 of which are major binge drinking weeks: Frosh Week, Hype Week, Carnival. To quote a friend, "Frosh is for nonsexual pterodactyls, Hype Week separates the boys from the bosses, and Carnival is where legends are born."

Edit: Tuition is pretty cheap if your Quebecois, Canadian, or French.

Cornell University

pros:

-top 15 school academically overall based on whatever places rank those things
-v good engineering, architecture, and hotel management schools
-lots of smart, interesting people to talk to
-frat and bar scenes are solid, 2nd biggest Greek community in the US, prob not as fun as state schools though but I don't have basis for comparison

cons:

-on average girls are subpar lookswise, there are some hot ones but not too many and competition for them is stiff, on average girls are prob less willing to hook up than at some other schools b/c they are smarter and make less bad decisions (doesn't mean they won't though obv)
-weather sucks sometimes especially Jan-early March (although school doesn't start back up til Jan 25
-if you're not into frat or bar scene there's not much else to do socially

Claremont McKenna College
It's absolutely the illest.
You can do whatever you want, the school pays for alcohol for parties, its in Southern California (sick weather, 30 mins from Commerce, 3.5 hrs from vegas), its a ridiculously chill group of people, there are 5 colleges so it doesn't feel like a small school even though you get the benefits of one, there are medimar dispensaries everywhere, oh and its also ranked in the top ten for LACs by USWNR.
