Don't go for it. ^

I can't pull it off normally but I work in a beachy area so I thought the straw hat would be permissible.

Never.

My opinion on most non-standard fashion things like that is very few people can pull them off well. And those that can know they can and don't need to ask others first.

Are there any acceptable casual hats that aren't baseball hats or are they my only option?

No one can pull that off in any setting imo. Looks awful on anyone and anywhere.

Random Q:

Does anyone know the reason why Uniqlo don't carry any shirts without a front pocket? Seems rather odd imo.

need advice with matching colors, is dressing in similar colours bad? like grey/white/black or dark blue/light blue/black. is it too boring?
05-23-2013 , 03:31 PM
I tried reading up on colour theory stuff a year or two ago but basically found myself extremely incompetent at it. Now I just ask the guy in the store for help with outfits and go by that. I wear pretty much exclusively the colours that you listed and sometimes light purple/light pink, and sometimes earthy colours. Google some colour theory stuff you might find it helps you.

i read the thread on reddit and just got even more confused

i think im doing it right or at least not wrong and im not really one to try and "pull things off"

Color theory is a tricky aspect of clothing, and I think I am just getting close to understanding it fully. Regarding colors and when to wear them(not necessarily matching) here is guide to Reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/malefashiona...easonal_color/

knowing what colors work best with each other can be very tricky if you want to be more bold, but is rather easy imo to play conservative. Usually dressing in 3 different colors(assuming not all bright and outlandish colors or very very similar colors), is fine. Black/white/grey is fine, but can obv done differntly.

The problem mainly arises when you get too mathcy, in the sense multiple garments have a similar color pattern. like wearing shoes that are red and yellow, and having a red and yellow shirt, or red pants and yellow shirt, or something bizarre like that. This can work if street wear is your style, but for the average person going to a bar, this would look silly.

If you really went to venture into the intracacies of color theory, here is a decent guide:

http://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashio...o_apply_it_to/(although done in a female forum so examples are female clothes). And some things dont really apply to all types of mens fashion(analog color scheme being the most obvious, see my previous example)

Womens clothes tend to be a lot brighter and easier to pull of more bold looks, but similar color theory applies, its just your often not working with super bright colors but more subdued colors in mens fashion.

yeah thats pretty much my position on it atm, those are the threads i read as well.

Heres the outfit I wore during my last TR from girls thread, its pretty casual, and to add flair i matched the socks with shirt some. Ideally I would wear shows with a tad more contrast(irl they have slightly more, but not as much as I would like), but its fine.

The socks are only visible when Im sitting or maybe going up stairs or something like that.

Although theres a lot of different colors of blue/greenish going on here, its not overpowering so i think it works. For example if my shirt was a solid color of the dark blue from the shirt in pic, in wouldnt go with the pants, it would be too close, it would come off as me trying to wear all the same color and just being ******ed.

i thought mixing brown and black was a mistake? like a fashion faux pas (if thats even the correct term).

if i were wearing those boots and the shirt, id probs wear light wash blue jeans.

---

advice on how suit trousers should fit?

i have a few old pairs from when i was younger, they're tight around the waist (a belt wouldn't be necessary but i still would of course).

However the bottom of the trouser hangs over my shoe. Should they be slimmer/tighter to avoid a sort of bagginess around the ankle?

Pants are blue, its just my camera phone is horrible(aka not wearing any black)

regarding suit are you talking about the break or the width? break referring how much "overlap" there is between pants and top of your shoe, or how many folds are created. See:

i prefer quarter break, and i think(not to sure) thats probably most in right now. Full break is prob most out of style.
05-23-2013 , 06:19 PM
mine are definitely full break, im not really a fan of quarter/no break.

half/full break looks good

edit: i have a red + white plaid shirt, what color v-neck can i wear with dark blue jeans, black shoes + black belt? I was thinking navy

Do you mean with the plaid shirt? No visible undershirt. You can wear 2 blues just make sure there's enough contrast.

Custer,

Good outfit, I've recently started matching socks to shirts, I think it's a cool subtle touch. I stacked a bunch of coupons at BR recently and was able to get a ton of their socks for like $2.50 a pair (it was a mistake on their part allowing two specific coupons to stack). Ill post some examples if I remember

Not quite style, but mhe. I recently bought this shampoo and conditioner combo and the **** is legit.

I have been growing out my hair just for the sake of it, and I started to do no shampoo(probably shampoo'd every 2 weeks or so) and the way my hair felt day in and day out was great, but it dried out my scalp. I bought a differnt sulfate free shampoo(basically this shampoo wont bubble, it cleans and **** but doesnt destroy natural oils as bad as regular shampoo will).

I dont know if I am going to use it daily, the person that recommended it to me shampoos weekly and conditions daily. It coms in 8 oz containers, and for 13-14$ the **** aint cheap. Ill probably just mess around and see what I like best.

However, point is, this **** felt amazing when I used it for first time today(got it yesterday). Hard to really describe, but it feels healthy, or whatever my perception of healthy hair feels like.

do you workout? i tried the no shampoo thing for a little but while my hair definitely looked better, it felt like absolute ****. like i was using a super super cheap product in it. idk if i was just building up a ton of sweat or what. ive got naturally thick/curly hair if that makes a diff.
