No sir, but they're relatively normal. If i had a uni or a couple of caterpillars, I would.

what do you guys think of this jacket (to wear to class and such) since it's getting pretty cold now.

Climb mountains in them, don't wear them to school.

Dislike both.

second is obviously fine

I have a few half-zips or whatever the **** you want to call them, but I don't have them branded like that. Find a place that doesn't brand them. Also none of mine are polyester. That's just unnecessary unless you are planning on spending significant time outdoors, and at that point, I'll just wear my real jacket that was bought for utility more than style.

What do you guys think about down jackets? I like the fact they are easy to transport because of their weight and pack ability.

takingit,

I dislike both. I have never worn much, if any, North Face because every single other kid in college wears one every day. And the logo on the second one is just awful.

bubonic,

I've always thought those are hideous but some people like them.
10-30-2012 , 12:18 PM
I'm also in the camp that think those are hideous.

Coats should be about style not pragmatism. If you are into doing outdoor stuff you can have a different jacket for that but daily wearing it should be about looking good first and keeping warm second. That being said there are plenty of nice looking yet warm jackets.

Thanks for the replies, I already have the jacket above and it costs $300. It's a very nice jacket and best of all it only weighs 6 ounces which is incredible.

The downsides are price and it looks pretty flashy, definitely not a typical hoody and pajamas look, which I hate when people look like they just woke up.

But yeah sometimes I feel like I get looks from the jacket because its unique and looks expensive.

You feel wrong.

Not a fan of down jackets. Agree 100% with what Henry said. Most people aren't outside enough to warrant buying a jacket for utility over style. Also I wouldn't spend $300 on a jacket like that. Don't see the need for it to be lightweight. To me, there's a very, very specific market for a jacket like that. If you want a warm jacket, get a Carhartt. I have one, and it's probably the warmest jacket I've ever owned and is under $100.

Otherwise I can get by wearing pullovers and sweaters because if I need to be outside for awhile, then I obviously don't care about style as much and neither do most people.

I'm not a fan of down jackets but the popular brand if you are to get one is Canada Goose. Pretty much everyone I know who has a down jacket wears those. They are a bit expensive starting at about $600 with a few breaking the $1000 mark.

I actually got one of the Canada Goose jackets last week. They have a line where the outer shell is wool and it is much nicer looking and more versatile than their regular line. The design is a little different as well.

im actually thinking about returning that down jacket and getting a more subtle jacket like this.

thoughts?

10-30-2012 , 03:21 PM
A jacket like that is much better. What's your budget? Have you considered a pea coat?
10-30-2012 , 03:25 PM
That jacket is much better but still not something I would buy. I prefer coats that are not synthetic.
10-30-2012 , 03:25 PM
Better yet not good, bubonicplay.

Yeah im thinking about doing the return, that down jacket is just too flashy and shiny, even though its warm and light i just dont like the looks of it.

The Arxteryx (sp?) is more practical but still $220. A quick google search of peacoat and I found it just doesnt fit my style, I prefer more of a technical jacket, that is water resistant etc.

How about a parka?

Good find, i will probably buy this

http://www.barebackpacks.com/collect.../products/lido

thoughts? Should i buy the black one instead ?
10-30-2012 , 05:12 PM
That one was def my favorite, I would go with that color or the blue one in same style, not a fan of black backpacks, but its personal preference.

Really love the contrast between the outer tan and the inner blue and white, so that would be my number 1
