Now, he might be a bit on the slow side, but we're just talkin' about five little points here. I'm sure that somethin' can be done....

Is there a Mr. Gump, Mrs. Gump?

I finished my undergrad degree in Biology and really enjoyed the lab work and was strongly considering education afterwards but after doing some research found that Medical Laboratory Technology is a great trade to have. In Canada, it's a two year program with half being in-class lecture and the other being in hospitals and clinics getting hands on experience and on the job training. The starting salary in the maritimes is close to 45K a year and a huge portion of the current technologists are retiring within the next five years so finding a job will be relatively easy.
With a few years experience and senority most technologists get between 55-60K and senior members of specialized departments like hematology and cytology can earn between 80-90K. Not bad for a trade program offered through most technical colleges. While the university degree is not actually required to be admitted to the program, any hospital or government funded lab/clinic will look heavily at the those with not only the license, but an science degree from a reputable university
