Woot yea! So....what now? lol.

Im basically asking if anyone has ever been in that position where you really dont know what the hell you're doing in college or what your ultimate goal is? I mean its really frustrating....I have minimal interest....im currently majoring in journalism...... because i can write?...ehhhh ...

Noones seems to be able to help me find myself, so maybe some poker degens will help.

Here are my interests and abilities.

1. I like money.
2. I like poker.
3. I enjoy competition...sometimes..
4. I am a quick learner.
5. loves to party?
6. get drunk?

ugh....what kind of career is out there for a guy that hates everything?
or anything thats productive anyway

If you're not planning on getting a degree, then move on. If you are committed to staying, then grow up. Until you do take your undergrad classes and enjoy yourself. Jeez, you're 18 years old? you probably think you are some smart guy, but really you are still a kid.

Ok, so I should just work towards the degree, even though I don't know what im going to do with it? I do want to have a college degree because of course there are broader job opportunities, but I dont know what I should be majoring in.

All test show that I should be leaning towards the arts department, but I dont enjoy art.

just take business or something

You don't need to know what you want to do with your life yet. Take a bunch of intro courses to things and figure out what interests you. I originally went to Michigan to go to their buisness school; but upon arriving I took some philosophy courses and creative writing courses and decided that I like that stuff much more.

Most of the advice people give about college on this site sucks because most of the people giving the advice struggle to succeed in college (whether socially or academically). Just go with the flow and enjoy yourself. Go to class--it's only a few hours/day.

If you're really struggling coming up with something to do in terms of a major, I recommend something broad that can be useful for a wide range of jobs. I assume you are good at math, so I think that math, business, economics, or engineering would all be useful for you. tbh I would avoid majors like psychology or stuff that requires a graduate degree before ever becoming useful.

SAME BOAT

1)journalism major too----w/e no one knows wut they want to do. just journalist cuz good at writing and reading/writing is important at any job

2)hate productive jobs....and im buying a degree....doesn;t matter if u dont like school....you gotta get that degree to earn more money

3)Money...i love it way tooo much....money makes u miserable anyways

If you want to buy a job with your degree, don't major in journalism.

My school had one of the top J schools in the country and my friends who went that route are all struggling like crazy right now.

Journalism is a class, hardly a major.

+1

Get a math or engineering degree. Only pursue something like journalism/liberal arts if it really interests you because you will be at a disadvantage when it comes to getting a job upon graduation.

You know many people go to college without knowing what they want to do, they are called undecided majors. Go for a year, and see what interested you, take classes that are broad and cover a variety of areas.

Take intro to everything and you'll find something you don't hate.

If you have to ask what to major in, engineering isn't it. You should know you want to be an engineer when you enter school, otherwise the anal rape sessions will really test your willpower.

Are there people in college who know why they are there?

Thats what college is for: Somewhat intelligent people with no direction.

Take some general intro classes that are easy. Definitely try taking a career class or university class or something that will help teach you about different majors and opportunities associated with them.

And then go into Business.
