never surrender

I brought a book to read before class started, at the end of class she noticed the book and initiated conversation with me about it. We walked out of the building together and headed in the same direction, i noticed this and asked her if she parked her car at the same lot i did, she said yes and we continued to talk until we got to the lot. It was a pleasant 10 min conversation. Next class i noticed she was drawing some plants in her notebook, i humorously asked her why she was doing that and smiled, she just shrugged and didn't even reply. I wanted to talk to her a bit more after class but even though she saw me right behind her when heading to the parking lot she did not reduce her pace so i could catch up.

So?

sorry but i lol'd at drawing plants for some reason

A short conversation while walking to the same place means nothing. Making an off-hand comment and her laughing it off isn't exactly making a move and being rejected. There's no need for advice, you should just act like this is a new girl.

The important thing here is, do you think i still have a shot or her previous behavior is telling me to back off?

she probably sees you as "the guy i talked to once while walking to my car". maybe a step above complete stranger, but not a very big one.

yes you still have a shot because you havent made a move and havent been rejected yet. you are reading far too deeply into insignificant actions

Obviously I'm fine with you going after her.

The roommate situation is interesting and just an additional reason why you shouldn't have roommates. Typically my attitude is that guys who have this irrational hate for guys who go after girls in relationships are not worth having around but you live with him so can't just lower him in the rotation.

You likely creeped her out. She was just being friendly and now she likely regrets it because she got the vibe that you are going to make more out of it then was meant and the only way to deal with guys like that is to shut them down completely.

I text a lot.

When it comes to women, I text fairly frequently (usually in response to them), but will call when it comes down to getting plans set in stone.

Anybody ever have the feeling like "Oh, I can't respond to this text right away, I'll look desperate" and wait a few mins? Sad to say, but... been there....

i actually usually go for the insta-reply. I just say to girls i always have my phone on me and that if i dont auto respond it means i dont like you very much.

I know what you mean, I feel if i snap respond it will look as though i have been waiting for this text all my life. I will normally look at the text then respond maybe 3 or 5 minutes later.

I usually take my time to text because I don't have a whole lot to say and I don't want to over expose myself to a chick or have pointless text conversations all day that'll quickly end up in me being friend zoned.

I do this too. The problem is I then forget completely and never reply.

I think for plans it's mandatory to call.

Are texts really ever important?
09-28-2010 , 12:08 PM
99% of texting i do is just logistical stuff/setting plans in stone.. convos by way of text suck. exceptions are when me or the girl are in class/somewhere else where a call is just way too impractical, or if shes one of THOSE girls who hates talking on the phone but cant help herself from texting all day long.
09-28-2010 , 12:14 PM
btw, I think the USA vs. Euro concept of "text vs. call" will be VERY different.

Depends on for what.

For anything that is more than a few minutes of communication it should be in person.

These back and forth text conversations that people have are bad.

Say I wanna make plans for later this week with girl from above. Calling is obv superior, right? Although I made plans for last weekend via text and it worked out well.

I'm a very good talker/conversationalist IRL, but I am truly awful on the phone. I HATE talking on the phone, and I'm bad at it.
