I was really glad to have a comedic speech at least, totally softened up the mood and relaxed everybody

We had Colbert speak at our commencement. He was dirty and it was excellent! If only I could have seen my parents faces following some of his jokes...

I don't remember a lot of particulars from the speech from Anders(I'm sure you can look it up) but I remember he did a shout out type of thing to the Badger Grandma's (they cheer) and hes like "Yeah, just think, 50 or 60 years ago they were pioneering the walk of shame." haha

I only attended one of my commencements and it was hard to get though. The speech was by a woman whose only contribution to society was marrying a very wealthy man who donated $100 million dollars to the school. It was all about how we should devote our lives to volunteering and helping with the arts. An easy position for someone who has never worked a day in her life to advocate for.

i'm not sure what the second sentence means (i know ankle yapper is her dog, but the rest doesnt make sense)

You said you went back with her and sat on her couch and walked her dog and ****, it seems like if she was planning on not responding or wasnt interested she would have cut the date off after dinner.

Speaking of commencements, when i graduated Soledad O'Brien spoke, I also went to my brothers at UD and Bill Clinton spoke.

What you know about that Ex-prezzy swag?
05-20-2013 , 04:43 PM
oh, right. now i see what you mean. yeah, me neither. she did make it clear before we left that i was taking her home and then sleeping at my place (which made sense because she was sick).

at this point im hoping she had some horrible appendicitis that has left her incapacitated for a few days (should have been a seinfeld plot)...that way at least she likes me! also, you'd think she'd at least accept my fbook friend request since we have a mutual friend. maybe **** went down.

you would think that but sometimes girls don't like to do, or don't have the courage to do what they want when they are in person with another person. It's sort of a human characteristic to not want to disappoint someone in person if they looking right at you.

Did not go to graduation on Saturday. Could not deal with that **** again. I went to my undergrad ceremony mostly for my parents.
05-20-2013 , 05:12 PM
the whole thing is just weird because after our first date she was like "i dont wanna be like clingy but can we please hangout soon?" and she told me i had to stop making her laugh on friday because her side was hurting. i mean, ive definitely led some girls on into thinking i liked them more than i did, but i'd hope i wouldnt be so easily fooled.

the only mistake i might have made is i said when i'm single, i really like being single, but when i'm in a relationship i like being in a relationship. for some reason i feel like she interpreted that as me saying that im not looking for anything serious. still, if she liked me, she wouldnt just cut off ties though, she'd just ignore taht and hope for the best.

Either way you can't contact her again for now. If you wanna send a hail Mary before the weekend go for it.
05-20-2013 , 05:34 PM
agreed. and she's out of town this weekend so idk. prob just let it be

lol I was immediately going to write that. That was the second most frustrating podcast i've ever listened to. Only being topped weeks later by adam again with that female show producer.

Paraphrasing, Gavin Newsom said he came from a broken home so he can relate to these struggling minorities. His dad was the head of attorneys for a leading oil company . Then he proceeded to never directly answer any questions. Politicians gonna politician. I really wonder if behind closed doors with a glass of wine in him is he a normal guy and has real conversations? Or do these people really become so unaware of themselves and lead that bull**** life 24/7.

If I don't have to go to my commencement to graduate I don't plan on attending.

What do you guys have against commencements assuming university not high school? I think it would be fairly fun to dress up nice, listen to a speech from some famous guy, and celebrate graduation with your family and friends.
05-20-2013 , 08:32 PM
I see the whole graduation ceremony stuff to be mainly for the parents. I couldn't give less of a stuff to be honest.

You listen to a speech which might or might not be interesting. The not is heavily favoured here.

Then a ****-load of names get read which is boring. You sit there for a couple of hours waiting for your name to be read. I don't see how this could possibly be enjoyable.
05-20-2013 , 10:21 PM
Names are only read at the school graduations where i went, which for my school, meant like 70 names, including PHDs and Masters, but I had a smaller school.

The entire university commencement just dealt with random people speaking.
05-20-2013 , 11:46 PM
We had Andy Card for ours in 2007. No idea why Umass, a very liberal school, thought it was a good idea to get the Chief Of Staff under GW Bush to speak. He got booed offstage.

[QUOTE=Country Roads;38586743]i think it's kind of weird to not make out or have any contact during the night and then at the end u throw out a "hey lets bang", doesn't usually play out to well in most cases. shoulda made ur move when u went for drinks after dinner.

I didn't like my grad much. Our former student president did our speech. It was actually quite decent for what it was worth. They put the grad ball which was a ball for all the university grads on the same day as the Law/Commerce grad (ie mine) so I didn't end up going to the grad ball. It would have been nice to have a graduation with just the law students. Having to graduate with Commerce sucked as there were so many more of them and it just took forever to read out everyones name.

Good morning, boys. How is the water?

The first graduation I ever went to was my gfs last week and it was boring as hell. I skipped my elementary, hs, college and law school graduations. Just a big waste of time
