My New Year's Resolution: Don't Skip Class My New Year's Resolution: Don't Skip Class

01-02-2010 , 10:04 AM
Title pretty much says it all. I didn't have a very good Fall semester academically, primarily because of attendance.

Looking for humiliation bet-type ideas to as reinforcement if I do happen to skip class this semester. Something fairly embarrassing that I can photograph/video and post on the internet for all scrutiny.

There are a few SL people that go to my school (University of Georgia) who can probably help me document said humiliation, should it occur.

Ideas?

GL. Fat chance in hell I could not skip class at least a few times.

We teach an entire class on learning how to count to 4 when it matters.

I think I would deeply regret it if I had never skipped class.

"The usual bet" from The League. If you haven't watched this show, check it out, the 6 episode first season ended recently and it's ridiculous.

Never skipping a class is hard. Give yourself a limit of 5 classes you are allowed to miss for the year.

Its never fun waking up at 6:45 after a night out to try make a morning lecture.

there are plenty of times where skipping is for sure the move but if you really wanna do this seems like a clear slap bet

+1

1 slap to be given at any time for each class missed.

This is unrealistic, there is going to be a time where your boys want you to chill or some hot slutty chick wants you to bang and saying "sorry my new year's resolution was not to cut class" will just not cut it.

This is a good point. Okay, I like the "5 classes maximum across the board" idea. My buddy owns a tazer gun and has ever so graciously offered to shoot me with the tazer gun if I miss >5 classes.

If that happens, I'll put it up on YouTube.

Not to be a dick, but I really hope you end up breaking your new years resolution just so I can watch the video!!

figure out how much the class costs total, (most schools post the price per unit somewhere), divide by number of classes you have, donate that amount to charity every time you skip. for instance, if you are in school for 16 weeks, meet 3 times a week, and your class is 4 units at $1000 a unit you would donate (4*1000)/(16*3)=4000/48=$83 a class. since you go to UGA and are probably in state it is less than that but it is probably at least $20 a class, that should force you to think about the cost of skipping.

so here's a good answer, ship your dad 20 bucks every class you miss ?

Not skipping class seems like an awesome, productive and all-around brilliant idea until you wake up one morning and immediately realize that the last thing in the entire world you feel like doing is dragging yourself to some stupid, boring lecture.

What made you decide to do a humiliation bet instead of a monetary one w/friends?

Honestly, I didn't think a video of me handing $20 or whatever to someone would be nearly as amusing on video. Plus, shipping some money would hurt WAY less than something humiliating.

It goes back to the whole thought of "if you can solve a problem by writing a check, then it's not a problem" idea.

You are in the same boat as most of my friends - don't worry.

Ok, so the taser gun humiliation bet is off. I have a good bit of metal in my left ankle as a result of reconstructive surgery.

Apparently (confirm/deny?) getting shot with a taser, or really any severe electric shock, can really **** up the metal inside your body, potentially weakening the metal.

Other suggestions?

gl with that buddy, I already missed my first class today. Heard we had some kind of presentation, hope it won't affect the further outcome of that course

0/1 in my classes this quarter as well. Missed my 8:30 AM class as I am typing this at 8:09 lol. Luckily the class is fully recorded and posted online every day. I'll try to join the club that misses less than 5 classes the rest of the year, OFF TO A BAD START lol.

Either I'm a nerd or just really lame, but I can count the number of classes I have missed in college on one hand and I am a 4th year Senior.

I believe two or three of these were for my Grandma's funeral my sophomore year also....

i would love to make this new years resolution, but i can literally count the number of classes i went to last semester on one hand.
