yea after rethinking it, i can see how the position you guys are arguing for could be plausible.

but it's not very clear how plausible because of the survival of the fittest nature of the game. i mean there should be selection against people who are smart but don't work dilligently, and we should see "build up" of players with smartness AND dilligence, but without having any data to confirm either one of our hypotheses, we can't know how strongly these traits are distributed among the player pool, and thus we are kind of in the dark, and are arguing from a place of ignorance.

Yeah thats the annoying part about these discussions.
Why cant there be a twisted scientist who kidnaps 1week old kids from the hospital and teaches them the exact same material in a prison cell..

Buddha says find balance in your life. In your case I'd say that you shouldn't obsess about grades so much that you ignore the other things you enjoy in life (like poker), and you shouldn't play poker so much you flunk out.

In between will be the balance that works for you grasshopper.

+1
I know a guy who was in on the initial boom. Him and his friends all played LHE online, and they all decided to quit school and go pro, while he decided to take the more prudent route and take a couple years to finish school. Several years later, they were all millionaires. He does well for himself, but plays SSNL today.

DO THE RIGHT THING OP
