Anyone in film school? Anyone in film school?

Thinking of going to film school, probably in LA.
UCLA-Extension or LA Community College are possibilities because they're easy to get into, they're cheap, and they focus on practice rather than theory.

Anyone like to share their film school experiences or offer advice?

<< considering going to film school as well. probably going to go to cal state northridge if i do go. my uncle was a professor at ucla in screenwriting and he highly recommnded cal state northridge for undergrad. was also interested in "LA Film school" but he said that those types of schools are pretty much scams

Some of those privately run schools are $40-50k/year.

LACC is $26 per credit hour from in state, and CS Northridge isn't too much more than that.
One thing I liked about LACC is that its location is right in the middle of the action, so an older outsider like me would have an easier time making connections and meeting people. Not sure I'd want to go there if I was typical undergrad age, since making friends for you would be easier someplace residential.

i am in SF and i am thinking of trying my luck in LA. i am not sure if i would rather study film making or acting. do you know how much LACC offers? how much can you get done on $26 per credit before you have to go to UCLA?

LACC's TV & Film website

It's normal to take 2 years' worth of classes before transferring to a 4 year school.
I'm likely just going for the one-year Film Production Certificate + some TV classes.

I think you may have to audition for the acting school, but am not sure.
(Film is open to anyone, pretty much)
