The Main Event will attract 200+ players this year? Last year attracted 208 runners.

Total guesswork but I expect the field size to be about the same as last year.

Well, I just finished my trip (vacation?) to AC for the circuit events and am now back home in Houston... home sweet home. Or something.

I played events 3 and 4. (Paid for event 3 by grinding out the cash games on Thursday.)

Event 3 (662 runners, 63 paid): I was probably chip leader at the first break (soft table basically handing me chips whenever I asked). 25k after 100 minutes. Not bad. Alas, I went card dead for 5 hours, had to fold JJ to a four-bet shove during level 9. With my stack down to about 15 BBs, I jammed it in on a squeeze play with 88 on the BB... AK called. Freakin' K on the river. Game over. I finished just outside the top 100 and died in Level 9 or 10.

Event 4 (392 runners, 36 paid): I got up a few hundred early, but a trainwreck hand happened about 10 hands in, leaving me on the right of the big stack. And when big stack's KK runner-runnered a straight over my AA after the same dude earlier hit a backdoor straight when I flopped a set of 5s... well, I was crippled surprisingly early. It was like freakin' Final Destination - the poker gods kept trying to kill me on cooler hands and it took almost 10 hands to finally do me in. Another squeeze play with A/Jo ran into a guy with 8/9d who decided he just didn't want to let it go not even for a 20BB shove. Oh, well. 8 in the door. 8 on the river just to rub it in. Game over. I finished with about 250 players still remaining. If I just folded for another hour I could have gotten a free dinner. Bummer.

Sunday I just sat in the poker room at Caesar's and got all my buy-in money back. Good times... cashed out for just under a grand in one day playing 1/2NL.

Alas, now it's back to the real world.

BUT - I must say, I know people were complaining that we "only" got 6k chips for the $340 and "only" 8k chips in the $560.... but the structures were AMAZINGLY good. Best tourney structure I have ever played. It really reduces the luck factor and allowed me to get away from hands pre-flop without ever feeling pot committed. I know that made the tourney director a bit frustrated (since Event 1 and 3 both finished very very very late on Day 2). But I really enjoyed the tourneys.

For those who want to book a room at Caesar's, try Priceline (or something similar). The "special" rate that the hotel offered me was $200.00 more than the price I got on Priceline (by the way, I got these price quotes yesterday).

But... the room is like an oven, so is the hallway. The event room isn't much better. I'm told by the front desk that they can't lower the heat in the hotel or the casino because it's set seasonally. She said; "We will all suffer for another two weeks."

Anyone know the format for the turbo event this Saturday? And what's the procedure, is it arrive early, sign up for player's card, then sign up for tourney? No pre-reg online?

Scooped up Event 5, extremely good structure. Day one played from 450 down to 45. We started day 2 an hour early (at 1:00 pm instead of 2:00) and still played until nearly midnight. Wanted to play the $1K but I'm ridiculously tired. Not that I'm complaining..

GL to those playing today.

they didnt run any satellites into the $1500 and that wont help.

Im kinda on he fence about satellites into 1k's but IMO 1-4 qualifiers into 1ks 270+30 turbo structure types would seem to work

Kudos.
That's really great bladder control.
My dog is nearly 11 years old.
There is zero chance she could last 15 hours without an outside visit.

Hello All,

Does anybody know how many seats ,on average, given out for the $340 satellites?

I am hoping that this WSOP Circuit event or foxwoods poker classics will be my first major live tourney. I was just introduced to poker last december, during group project discsussion in school. In january, I won first place in 4 online freeroll tournaments. has been playing everyday till today and my bankroll is now up to $1800+. never deposit a single cent.

I will take the greyhound bus at 3 AM tomorrow and arrive at AC at 10 AM. Atlantic City, here I come!!!!!

Wow!
You're going to ride a bus for 7 hours to play in a mega satellite where your odds of winning a seat to the Main Event are about 1-in-17. That means you must beat roughly 94.2% of the players.
Wow!
Hard to predict the number of entries, but good luck and a tip of the hat for being dedicated and optimistic.

bro don't spend 20% of your roll on a live satellite if you've never played for $$ before

(nvm if level lol)
