day 1 (thursday) noon event had 221. Friday's noon event at 155, and the 5 pm on friday, which was flight 1A of ring event 3 (re-entry) had 119. I expect the fields today at noon and 5 (flights B and C of event 3) will be ~300ish since it's the weekend.

Not that I forgot and this an easy complaint BUT holy **** is Rincon in a dead location. Very beautiful spot but still nothing else around until you hit Escondido.

Rincon is just in a terrible location. Not only that but I think one of the problems has always been their game choice of the ring events. It's understandable to have as many NLH events because that's what most people want. But at least throw in a LO8 and HORSE ring event to at least try and attract the limit mixed game crowd from LA and Vegas. Instead, they put in a PLO ring event this year. I'd be shocked if that tournament gets over 40 players.

I know they have had O8 and HORSE ring events in the past but if there's no consistency to the schedule from year to year, people will just eliminate this series from their schedule. I know I have and I live in San Diego.

And on a related note, I think consistency in the schedules of ALL the circuit events from year to year is one of their problems. I have seen a gradual decrease in the number of limit games in all of their tournaments series the last several years. Tahoe used to have O8 and HORSE ring events. Caesars in Las Vegas used to as well. But because they don't draw NLH size fields, they get eliminated. I think that's just a huge mistake because if people who get tired of playing NLH want to play a different tournament/game and they don't have the option, they might just quit playing poker altogether instead of continuing on playing different varieties of poker which may in turn lead them back to NLH. I feel the elimination of these events only hurts poker in the long run. Who knows, I could be completely wrong. I just know that I won't be attending any circuit events if there are no games for me to play and I can't be the only one that feels this way.

At least I can get my O8/HORSE/OE fix in at the Bike, Commerce and Venetian...

Do you have a car?

closest is probably Valley View or Pala. VV doesn't have poker, Pala does.

Just got back from Rincon. I was surprised by how much it's changed since I was there last. New restaurants, new event center where tourneys take place, a few new nice bars that have a very nice craft beer/wine list. I paid $150 for two nights in a two bed. Dealers we're passable, some good, a couple who were new to dealing but that happens.

It is very isolated though. There's two ways to get there, always take the route through Escondido. Always.

Don't ever play 1/3 there. Fixed rake and min buy is $40 so the game is terrible. 2/5 was good considering max buy is 1k..

I could have wrote this myself. They eliminated all limit games and I have not been back. They have the room and dealers as the NL game gets smaller.
