Does anyone know if the WSOP cut any deals with the Casino to ensure the KQJ are used instead of the RDV?

Im not sure if this violates Quebec language laws but its certainly a bit confusing at first, and Lac Leamy def. use the bilingual cards for their regular cash/mtt.

Lac leamy doesnt use bilingual playing cards at all. They have little helper cards that tell you K=R, Q=D, J=V, these are handed out upon request ( the dealers always have about 3-4 at the table. I would doubt they use bilingual playing cards for the WSOPC events. Its kinda dumb but the quebec government is pretty anal about this stuff. Go french or go home :P

Thanks! Will probably call every other day to see if events are close to selling out. Will update here.

Huh? They absolutely do use bilingual playing cards as proven by how their KQJ is represented by RDV

Lac Leamy uses french playing card in their poker room and have bilingual translator cards available on request as stated above. As for the WSOPC events, I do not think this will change to the standard english cards seen normally in the WSOP, and definitely do not think they will use a bilingual deck, which would mean each face card would have to have two letters on it dictating both the french and english version of the word. I think the people that have never played with a french deck will just have to put up with it for the duration of the stop.

Also, it seems Lac Leamy is going to be using in house dealers for the tournament whereas most stops bring in WSOP dealers. This would reenforce my belief as less WSOP involvement in terms of dealing would likely mean less involvement in the decks that are being used during tournament play. But we'll see.

I went there yesterday and asked a dealer and a floor chef. They both said the decks for WSOPC are gonna be their current french version.

I just calle to register to a few events and I got told that there were still a bunch of seats left. Basically event 1 had the most sold with 60 out of the 350 sold.

Is that odd for a circuit stop? I would think they would fill up more once all the satellite events are finished and people who are travelling down show up. I know two days ago event 1 had 40 people, so within a few days the field increase by 50%. I would be surprised if the events don't come close to selling out as weekly events usually get a turnout of ~85 people and this has a lot of hype.

Yeah I also think they will get good turnouts. Recreational players probably don't call ahead of time to register. Also they will be running quite a few sattys that will fill the field.

I believe the four+ legal casinos in Quebec have the following rake structure:
1/2 is 10% up to $7; for 2/5 & 5/5, 5% up to $10; plus $1 BBJ rake.
This is higher than Ontario, Nevada, etc., but not as horrible as the $15 max rake at the Kahnawake poker rooms.

Looks like all but the main event play for 14 hours total (noon to 2am) for day 1. Is that normal?

Is it normal for WSOPC main events to be held on a weekday?

I'm a local and I think the schedule is pretty ****ed, but I'm not a circuit reg. Anyone with experience can comment on how idiotic my local store looks with this schedule, or am I just mistaken on all that?

Main Event are usually held on weekend. Also, not conventional to have flight 2 of main event same night as flight 1. Not sure about the 14 hour play, I assume it varies from location to location.

somebody should let these guys know that casinos in the mother country (France) use English cards. They are going to have major pushback on this...

Unfortunately, you are talking about a racist and fascist Quebec government where even kids with turbans are banned from playing soccer, and the language police constantly persecute those who dare to use any English without emphasizing French.

Read Quebec becoming 'uncool'. Remember to wear the following when you play at WSOP-C Lac-Leamy:

So as of now 90 are registered for event 1 and that is the most popular event thus far. Hope numbers pick up a bit, was expecting larger turnouts.

I got a call from Lac Leamy tonight telling me that they're hosting the WSOPC. I guess they're trying to attract some more people.

Hope the events hit at least 200.

One of the radio stations in Ottawa (Live 88.5 for the locals) was giving away buy-ins to a couple events last week. Not sure if they are still doing it this week.

Think it was for one of the $580s, plus the main.
