Pretty much every time we have a DSE in town we get higher-stakes play. Most specifically, the 10/20 NLH game (many days will have 2+ games). Sometimes we'll get 25-50 NLH or 100-200, but those games are sporadic.

Gabe Thaler used to run a 100/200 NL game at the venetian, but i think that's only during the WSOP. Jamie Gold used to play that game, and of course, he was the fish at the table.

Me and a couple friends from Wisconsin plan on playing the Friday, Nov. 6, $340 NL event. I've always enjoyed tournaments at The Venetian, having FT'd two of them in the past, but I've never been in Vegas for a Deepstack series. We're very excited.

Its so weird that this series gets like 500+ ppl per event and CP classic only got like 100. Venetian poker room is not even close to as good.

So is anyone else really peeved about the Venetian upping their vig AGAIN? 300+50 is not a reasonable rake. WTF... there must be some way of fighting this bull. Any suggestions?

dcarp, coming down for my first series....wondering how often there has been a day 2 for the $340s and how long day 2 would generally last?

I have a 7pm flight out of vegas and want to make sure it wouldnt conflict with playing a tourney the day before.

Busted around 100th, top 54 paid. First hand back from dinner break, blinds 1k/2k 300 ante, I have 50k, open AKo UTG+1, MP shoves 20k, kid OTB shoves 29k, I call and lose to kid's JJ and MP's 99. ~85k pot which would've put me over 100k. About 1/2 orbit later, kid who might have been Alex Jacob shoves 25k UTG+1, I call for my remaining 23k with AQo in MP and lose to 66. Frustrating end to an otherwise decent day.

Finish at 2am or when they reach the final table. Come back at 4pm the following the day.

I thought the extra $10 was for the floor/dealers so they didn't have to withhold out of the prizepool. I may be remembering incorrectly but thought the V didn't take out 3% or whatever for tips and instead just took it up front.

Yes, it is $350 total. However, all registrants receive a $10 food comp with their buyin receipt (or a gift) AND there is a free buffet every day from 11-1pm. The food is good, too. Yesterday, I had a meatball sandwich that was excellent. This is not your typical poker tournament buffet (where the casino puts out chips and dip).

So, yes it is $350, but we are definately giving you back every dollar worth to make sure you have the most enjoyable tournament experience possible.

Alex Jacob looking guy with the beanie who was a bit loud and possibly drunk? Same guy? He was quite entertaining to say the least. He's still in w/ a good stack too.

As for me, I'm going into day 2 with 180k, with I think about 20 players left. Blinds at 5000/10000/1000. Really didn't expect my friend and I both to make it to day 2 but we did which is awesome. Think I saw Hurley from the tv show Lost playing earlier in the day also.

If anyone recognizes me, I was the asian kid with the SF Giants hat, bit of a donkey. Ship it one time though, gogogogogo!

I am. I played a DeepStack event this past summer, and it was $300+$30+$10, now it is $300+$40+$10. Hope this is not a recurring trend in tournament poker. When I played, didn't get a $10 food voucher, T-shirt (think they have given DSE t-shirts in the past) or a buffet for players. Not one of them. Hopefully when I play a DSE next year, the rake isn't $300+$50+$10, cause that would be approaching near ridonkulousness.
