I remember you. I was to your direct left at the final table.

And I would definitely be back up there for the main if it wasn't that it's the weekend before Finals...

I honestly don't remember much about the final table anymore since it was so long ago, but congrats on doing well. And it's the weekend before finals for me too, but I'm going to be there as long as we (South Carolina) doesn't make the SEC championship game, which all comes down to our game @ Florida on Saturday.

Yeah, I only remember you, the guy who was chip leader (or close to, you and him had similar stacks if I remember right) and ended up going out in 9th in like three hands, and that's about it.

Oddly enough, I don't think we did or at least if we did I don't remember it. I was mainly at one table throughout the entire tournament until we got down to about four tables or so.

Run some satellites and have a good poker room rate and youll have more players. Buy-in is low but they will attract more players. Ive been to TS before and entered events that were just so far from events it was laughable. Hope this series will be more eventful

This series, or more specifically the last 2 events, will be decent because of the free seats being given out. And the poker rate is $100/day which doesn't seem that bad to me? I've never been to LV or AC though, so no idea how it compares.

it's $85 however it's now HOTEL only. They used to offer much nicer rooms in the TOWER for $95 but they stopped that a few months ago. Would like to see TOWER rooms available again...

Yea the tower rooms are MUCH nicer, I don't see why they do not offer them at 95 anymore, except possibly because around Thanksgiving time.

was told by Reservation staff it's because one or two poker rate groups in the tower had major damages in their rooms. Shame as it spoils it for the rest of us

Anybody from Pittsburgh area trying to go up Thursday-Sunday? I am trying to play the Deep Stack Turbo and Main. We can split hotel/gas costs, and I will provide high quality bananas for the trip.

How can they seriously stop offering the rate to an entire category of players due to one mishap?? I mean its not like they didn't have to pay for the damages or anything. There has to be something brought up to management about that, especially for the weeknight tourneys.

Emailed TS about trying to get discounted Tower rates again posted the email below:

Hello Tim

You recently sent us the following message:

Hello My name is Tim Stitt I am from upstate New York and currently serving in the Navy. Every time I travel home I always make sure to visit Turning Stone at least a few times and have nothing but great things to say about the entire resort. However, there is one issue that has arisen and it is that Turning Stone no longer offers discounted Tower hotel room rates to poker players who play in events such as the Superstacks series that is coming up. It has been told to players that the reason for this is that there was a room that was booked under a poker rate that had damages to it. Now by all means I am completely for accountability and believe whoever stayed in the room should be charged at least the amount to cover the damages. I do not believe that one mishap should be the reason an entire community has to pay by not getting offered the proper rate anymore. Everyone staying in any room whether it is the Tower or regular hotel should know what it means to be held accountable for their actions and the vast majority of players that I know that go there are very responsible people. We as a community are kindly asking you to reconsider offering poker room rates in the Tower again if not for the Superstacks tournament at least in the near future. Again you have an outstanding resort and casino and this is the only issue that has ever arisen in all the years I have been going there. Thank you very much for your time. Very Respectfully Tim Stitt

Response:

Mr. Stitt, Thank you for voicing your concerns. I would like to inform you however, the price differential does come from the fact that the Tower Hotel is rated 4 diamonds via AAA and since the hotel has a higher rating and more modern amenites that the 3 diamond Casino Hotel that is where the price differential comes from. I apologize that you were misinformed and have taken appropriate steps to direct the incorrect information. We do hope to be able to welcome you back to the Resort in whichever hotel you decide to stay with us in. Valerie Smith Accommodations Supervisor

So basically she is saying that since they have too many rooms that no one wants they are going to offer them to the poker players because we don't play slots. At least that is what I got from it.

she's just changing the rationale as it's an easier defence. The quality/rating differences between the TOWER and the HOTEL have almost definitely existed for years, and they offered the poker rate in both. Also the poker rate in the TOWER was an extra $10, so an argument could be made that we were still paying for the extra amenities, etc.

Myself I'm certain that between tournament fees and rake I'm paying $75-100 per day minimum which is not insignificant.
