Does anyone plan on playing the 345$, 375k guarantee next thursday night in Lawrenceburg Indiana?
I'm curious what caliber of player shows up for this one. I know the field will be large which usually indicates a soft field.

Thanks for starting a thread on the series. Playing 1, a couple others and the main. Should be a good size field for Event 1 given that Friday is a holiday (Veteran's Day). I'm low tech, so apologize if there is a better way to do this, but since you started the thread, if you can change the title of the thread might not be a bad idea to put the dates and series name in the title.

Good idea, I can't seem to figure out how to change the title... Either way, what is you're take on the field that will show? Any thoughts on strategy on this large field in this deep-stacked setup... I may go aggro style to try and amass chips early as it is a re-entry.

i went last time. i think it was in august. if i remember correctly there was around 1500 entry's. it was a 250k guaranteed though so maybe more this time since its 375k this time.

Question regarding the August Event 1 - I see that there were 1600 entries (http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/result34981.htm) but it only lists 45 places paid (with a note that other payouts not provided). It also doesn't make sense for a min-cash to be 5 times the buy in. Does anyone know how many places paid and any kind of number of players (not entries/rebuys)? I remember that the Event 1 last year was approximately 900-1000 players with 99 places paid (no re-entry that year). Thanks!

Question regardng the Saturday $235 PLO8 event - For anyone who played in it in August, what were your thoughts on the field and structure? It looked like it could be a little fast (or maybe I'm just used to deeper stacks)? Was it soft (ie, people who don't regularly play PLO8) or pretty competitive? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

I don't remember the exact number but they always pay top 10%. For larger events they round up to the nearest 10, so 170 would be my guess. I'm not sure about the number of actual players but if I had to guess I'd say 1400 live bodies and 200 re-entries. Keep in mind it's a re-entry, not a rebuy. In a re-entry, you have to go completely broke to re-enter, and you have to go back to the registration desk and pay the entry fee and the juice again just as though you were a new player.

It's a very soft field but the blinds do move pretty fast. At my table we were lucky to get in one orbit per blind level. I really wish they would use 30 or 40 minute blind levels for the Omaha tournies since each hand takes longer compared to hold 'em.

So what are your choices if you make it through day 1a in event 1 with chips?

Cannot Re-enter on day 1b
Forfeit chips and re-enter on day 1b
Re-enter on day 1b and choose best stack if you make day 2
Re-enter on day 1b and combine stacks if you make day 2

I'm asking because of this thread.

I'm going up next Saturday and can't decide if I'm going to play in Event #3 (NLH $555) or Event #4 (Omaha Eight/Better $235). I looked on Poker Pages as Last Year's and saw that the $235 Omaha Hi-Lo only got 68 entries. It was on a Monday though.

http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/schedule4546.htm

If anyone who played in this last year has any advise please let me know.

I like the field being soft, but the blind levels being 25 minutes is making me second guess playing in this one.

The series they held in August that had a very similar schedule had 187 entries.

http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/result34984.htm

Even though the blinds levels are 25 minutes long they do a good job of not skipping levels like 250/500, 500/1k, 1200/2400 etc..

You have to go broke in order to re-enter. You're not allowed to have two stacks in play at the same time. I don't know if they have a provision where you can forfeit your day 1a stack but if you're really short and would rather re-enter you can always just shove blind and muck your hand.

A player at my table in the $345 re-entry in March, lost a big pot right before the end of play on day 1A, leaving him with almost no chips. He called over a TD, placed his chips in his pocket, and was promptly disqualified, and his chips removed from play. He came back on day 1B, re-entered, and made the final chop.

That is both hilarious and genius.

I'm so glad I read this because if I ever find myself in that situation, I am going to do the same thing. And hopefully make the final chop too.

Looking forward to it. Re your earlier questions, re the field and strategy, would just say any $300 plus whatever juice is going to have a lot of weak spots, and if you plan to rebuy then aggro is def the way to play. At the last big re-entry here, heard Fossilman re-entered 5 or times on day A, and saw him rebuy at least once on B. GL.

Does anyone know of a hotel close by? The Hollywood itself is booked for tomorrow night and I am looking to stay up there Friday night.

Not bad. Wish this was a friday/sat tourney. I'd make the trip up for saturday. What time do they start running satellites for the events? What are the structures for the Single Table sats? Do you get 1000 chips and its a shovefest?

Coming down for 1B, tomorrow. Looking forward to playing. If there were 580 today, tomorrow should be at least 700? Thoughts?
