Anyone know the # of entries for the first two days of the $500k guarantee? Overlay expected?

I was shocked that Oklahoma Johnny would schedule a $10,000 Super HR for Seniors without first making sure that at least a table full of seniors would be willing to commit early to playing a certain amount of buy-in. I went all the way to Golden Nugget which charges for parking, but it was sad that both the $1K hyper turbo single satellite and $10K failed. I asked OJ if he was one of the two players registered, and even he didn't have the $10K to buy in!

If the WSOP's maximum buy-in for Seniors is $1K, how can GN possibly have 10x higher buy-in? Next summer, a bunch of non HT satellites should be run early, then the GN Seniors event final table can include a seat to a $1,000 buy-in Seniors Championship the next day.

That tournament was an insane idea. Is anyone really shocked it failed?

You could probably get a small event going at the WSOP of that buy-in size, but I just can't see that happening downtown.

GN does validate, though the easiest method is probably GN valet, the one just outside the main hotel lobby. You won't wait terribly long to pick up your car when you leave, either.

Sorry for the post diarrhea in this thread this morning, but I do have an important question I hope somebody can answer. I'm hoping to play today's last flight, but I'd need to bring my laptop and do some work between hands/on breaks. Is the wifi any good in The Grand? If it's not I'd probably have to skip it.

I could not access free wifi when I was at The Grand. YMMV. It was one of the reasons why I left early and walked out to Freemont Street where I could access wifi again.

I played yesterday with no issues accessing the GN Convention network, though I was probably only on it for about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I do not recall the access code. Ask you're dealer.

I played and got on with no problems. If anyone saw the guy running around constantly getting on his laptop between breaks, that was me.

Any news on this year's series? Assuming that they're having a series.

Enjoyed playing in these events last year. Actually cashed in 2 of the 3 I played in. Looking forward to seeing the schedule. I like split pot/mixed games and this seemed to have the best variety (beyond the WSOP). I usually play one WSOP event and a few smaller events ($350-$600) like these
