Just started, although this is an interesting update:

Quote:
Play should be underway in a few minutes. There was a long discussion between executives from the Rio, Bluff magazine and ESPN as to whether the final table should be moved into the Milwaukee's Best Light No-Limit Lounge and be broadcast on ESPN360. There apparently was an insurance issue with moving the final table into the lounge and so, for now, players have taken their seats at a table just outside the lounge. Nolan Dalla was overheard saying that if the issue can be resolved during the course of play today, we will move into the lounge.

As to be expected for such a star-studded final table, the rail is full of spectators.

Why is the live updates not working well for me in the past 2 days on cardplayer?

Chip updates are fine though:

1 Erick Lindgren 1,120,000 $-330,000
2 Barry Greenstein 895,000 $+216,000
3 Jeffrey Lisandro 730,000 $+205,000
4 Mike Matusow 568,000 $+3,000

Lindgren or Greenstein winning would be great. It'd be two bracelets (and his first two) in a year for Lindgren, or a repeat of 2004's win for Greenstein.

Insurance reasons were mentioned why they couldn't air the final table, as recording wasn't scheduled for today.

I've said it before, I don't understand why ESPN doesn't schedule any Draw events. They are exciting and easy to follow, ideal for TV.

A Great Time to Hit the Dinner Break for Matusow

Our last hand before the dinner break was a doozy. Jeff Lisandro raised to 85,000 from the button. Mike Matusow reraised to 285,000 from the small blind, folding Barry Greenstein. Lisandro made the call.

Matusow stood pat. Lisandro drew one card.

After the draw, Matusow confidently bet 200,000. Lisandro went into the tank for over a minute. He was trying to get a read on Matusow. "Gimme a sign you're still alive!" shouted Lisandro.

Finally, he made the call. Matusow immediately, and disgustedly, tossed his cards into the muck. Lisandro stood up and showed the gallery an ace.

Matusow will have all of dinner to work off the steam.

I don't think this is comparable to televised HORSE. With HORSE, a lot of people don't understand some of the games and the fixed limit aspect doesn't make for good TV if you're not a serious player. This 2-7 event, aside from the fact that it is full of household names, would be good TV because it's easy to understand the rules and because of the NL aspect.

Pretty standard this late to stand pat with a PP and bet even when the opp draws one.

Classic:

Quote:
Mike Matusow continues to drive the pace at the final table. This time, sitting in the big blind, he called a raise to 100,000 from Barry Greenstein. Matusow drew one; Greenstein drew two.

After the draw, Matusow bet 100,000. Greenstein quickly called but couldn't top Matusow's 9-7.

"Yeah baby!" Matusow screamed, jumping up from his chair. "I'm on my way now, boys and girls."

He sat back down, then quietly added, "Where, I don't know."
