Its near the end of the night of day 2 in the $5m guarantee at hrh Hollywood. There are 5 tables left. They announce four hands left in the night.

Travell Thomas is at an active table and had been repeatedly three bet and forced to fold.

He raises and gets three bet by the same player again. The two players had already exchanged words on other hands.

Travell mucks and finally has become so frustrated that he grabs his opponents mucked cards and turns them face up!

An ace is visible but the dealer stops him from fully exposing his opponents other card.

The table is outraged and calls Matt savage over to make a ruling.

Ive played in literally a few thousand tournaments and have never seen anything like this happen.

Since theres no precedent and no rule governing this type of situation, its a tough ruling to make.

If you give a penalty, is it just for that night or does it extend to day three with a different table of players.

Does this warrant disqualification?

Has anyone ever seen this? What would be your ruling? They are playing in a $5k buyin with $1m for first. Blinds will be 10/20k and travell has less than 400k.

Definitely a penalty that extends into the next day.

I think you could DQ him, but that's a really tough call to make here.

Although, he didn't blatantly cheat, so maybe a DQ is warranted.

I would say sit out the next 3 or 4 hands of the night followed by a 1 round penalty the next day with an absolute warning that anything else out of him swearing etc.. auto dq

Isn't reading mucked cards cheating though? I mean it's not cheating in the sense that he could imagine no-one would notice, but still.

Who cares about that. The act of touching another's players cards is improper. I would give a 1 round penalty, but don't disagree about 2.

you can get 1rd in some places for accidentally exposing your own hand, so seems like more is justified for deliberately exposing someone elses. DQ should prob be reserved for acts of violence, repeated serious rule violations, or less impulsive acts of cheating like collusion/introducing stolen chips etc. given that, anything >1rd<DQ seems justifiable. his stack and the fact he only half exposed his oppts hand are both irrelevant.

Who cares. Maybe he shouldn't have been an idiot. IMO his stack size is irrelevant. The penalty should be the same whether he has 1BB or 100BBs.

I like 2 rounds.

1-2 rounds seems reasonable regardless of stack size, and it should extend into day 3 if necessary (don't want to incentivize people to pull this bull**** just because it's the end of the day). The only other person I've heard of pulling this move is Annie Duke so Travell is in some fine company.

Easy DQ

DQ seems extremely unnecessary.

1 round penalty with a harsh warning and possible DQ for a 2nd offense.
