Cheap Places to stay for the WSOP? Cheap Places to stay for the WSOP?

Anyone know of a cheap place to stay in vegas for the series? I was able to stay at the IP in vegas for two weeks last year for under $120 bucks but now that they're renovating and stuff It's gonna be too much. Anyone know of an extended stay hotle that charges by the week over there or where the dirt cheap places are downtown/ on the strip?

Thanks!

Stratosphere has always been very cheap and relatively close, but they have a resort fee tacked onto the nightly rate. Check Smartervegas.com for the best discount rates.

LV Hotel (formerly Hilton) has 4 nights for $130 if you call and mention a promo code.

Gonna go out on a limb and say you didn't actually get IP for >$10 a night for 2 weeks unless you had some sort of insane hook-up.

That being said, yes, IP did jump up in price this year it seems. If you aren't bringing a car, and aren't willing to cab it, that is still probably the cheapest place with easy access to all the best summer poker spots (Rio through Harrah's shuttle).

I get stuff in the mail all the time from total rewards. He probably stayed Sunday-Thursday free and only paid for Fri-Sats

Yea. I played craps once at the IP in biloxi (bought in for $200) in early 2011 and got to stay at the IP in vegas for $114 for 12 days during last years series.

It sucks that the price jumped so much. I also took the harrah's shuttle to the Rio everyday but had to take a cab and night/morning.

Total Rewards is so random. One day they'll want big bucks to stay at the IP and the next a $10 table game player will be able to get 4 nights comped at the Rio (mid-week). Keep an eye on it since their rates might loosen up as we get closer to summer.

The Gold Coast is a great option for the WSOP. If you don't have a card there, get one on your next trip so you can save a few bucks with their "Ruby" rates. The hotel is nothing fancy but it's super convenient for the Rio and the rooms aren't too bad. If you want to step it up a notch, Palms Place has a promo that runs through the summer and it's not much farther down the street. I think someone posted the info about it in the main WSOP 2012 thread.

got $50 bucks a night at the palms on hot wire for 10 days. Committed without knowing the hotel, but there are only so many 4 stars west of the strip. Doesn't include resort fees, but should be worth it imho.

This is true. I think holding out might be a good idea.

As low as $30/night mid-week, $70 on weekends, but it depends on when you're going. The weekend of the Electric Daisy thing (6/8) is pretty bad.

Gold Coast ftw. For the extra couple dollars you spend per night you save a TON in taxi and bus fees.

As long as you're off the strip and not at Rio you should be fine.

yeah, cheap, and with my (little) blackjack play last year, they comped two nights.

Went to vegas with friends and played some $10 blackjack on Boyd card.

I have five nights at GC for $90 and expect to get those comped ...

Don't feel bad - I have never gotten an offer or hotel comp from anywhere in Vegas.

I've already booked stuff, but if you haven't booked anything, I did notice SouthwestVacations special in my email. And they have air/hotel packages including rio. http://www.southwestvacations.com/De...01F0500982FC3D

I never do this stuff anymore, because if you book directly with hotel you can get rooms comped, but you might check it out.

My short guide to getting comps. I'm not bragging or a balla or anything, but I was curious how this worked and a couple years ago did some research if a low roller like me could get any comps. Yes. Here's how I do it:

a: Always get players card. Always use players card. If you have a spouse who gambles, combine the account. Blackjack whatever. If you don't play table games, learn Jacks or better video poker and how to find a good machine and play that some everyday. Its fun with good strat/good machine almost neutral EV.

b: Get /Stay at smaller joints preferably. Understand that something like Gold Coast is part of "boyd group" which includes Main Street Station and Freemont downtown. If harrahs, play at other harrah's properties.

c: Always book reservations directly to hotel.

d: Meals in home hotel charge to room.

e: on checkout, either see casino host first or ask the res. desk what can be done. They will call over and take some stuff off.

f: If you are playing a table game first get friendly with pit boss. Also, when you first sit down he will "rate" you for an average bet size. Start off betting bigger. If he comes buy, bump bet. You might even ask a while in "what $/hand are you rating me at?" and (not being an a***hole) ask it to be increased if it is low. Also, if you have a long session and want to go eat, ask the pit if they can hook you up with a comp for food"

Last year, I got a free meal at the noodle place by asking nicely one night. I played $5-$20 a hand blackjack for a few hours a day after playing poker all day. Upon checkout, I asked what they could do, they called over then comped about $50 worth of food and 2 nights hotel (about $100 or so? I don't really remember).

Also, my wife and I went with friends in Jan. downtown, we played at MSS and Freemont and used the bconnected card (combined account). I got two free buffets at MSS (awesome btw, bust buffet for the buck in vegas, plus you get to skip the line). I get tons of offers, and I'm only ruby level. I'm getting two nights free for the WSOP (the friday and Sat expensive ones). 5 nights for $90.

solid advice mr. brightside. my friend just booked sun-wed for memorial day weekend for $140 total at the rio. he called and they comped mon/tue night. don't know what sorta rewards thing he has but it can't be much.

Still looking for best hotel deal since I'm trying to go out twice (end of May and end of June) but I found a good site that checks 100 travel sites in one: pokertripdeals.com

It changes every day so I'm waiting but I can't wait too long...

So if Im not too picky on when I fly back home is it going to be cheaper to buy airline tickets ahead of time or can I get away with hoping someone needs to get rid of some at the last second within a 48 hour period?
