So first event was yesterday. What kind of turnout did they get for the 1k rebuy?

I agree though it may be popular during the WSOP as a change of pace.

They already released the bellagio cup 6 schedule and its the same 1k rebuy nonsense for that series too....I read somewhere that the Bellagio Cup 6 WPT ME is actually a 10k cubed? 1 10k rebuy and one 10k addon?? is this even remotely possible?

According to Chainsaw from a while ago:

"I just confirmed this with jack mcclelland. The event will be a $10k buyin with $40k chips and 2 optional rebuys of $10k for $40k chips "

How different is that from a 'normal' 1K from the last series run at Bellagio? The first 1K events during the 5 Diamond in December had 167 runners...and the rest were in the 125-235 number of runners, at least for the first few events that I checked.

My buddy played the first event and said it was pretty much the softest field he's ever seen. Of course, he thinks everyone else is ******ed and every field is soft, so YMMV.

What drugs is Jack smoking, snorting, or injecting? Not that I play 10K buy-ins, but it's just ridiculous!

It only took Jack and the rest of the Bellagio staff four months (and two tournaments) to figure out what most of the poker community already knew.

An improvement, but they're still going to get obliterated by the DSE.

Did Jack McClelland, or anybody on that staff, take one second to put themselves in the shoes of a poker player, and consider the feasibility of playing a SERIES of only rebuy tourneys?

I read the article on Cardplayer, and his only justification was that rebuy tournaments did well in a previous event, and he basically blamed the economy. Really now..

Yeah Jack is obv not stupid but this was a disaster from jump street. THis series should probably just be written off since the word will just not get out fast enough. Perhaps he can salvage July.

Every other series is attempting to find more and lower price points for their tournaments so the logic of a series of $1k rebuys astounds me. And a $10kc is LOL
