Probably can't afford all that, so may need to pick and choose.
I went through some of the cheap events on the schedule and looked at structures to figure out which are the best values. It's my own personal version of the S-rating. The things I considered were the entry fee and a rough measurement of how much play a tournament guarantees (using level length and stack size to calculate how long it will take in hours before the blinds hit 5% of the starting stack, which is an arbitrary cutoff point, but also roughly when the tournaments should start really mowing through the field).
In the bargain price range ($400-800), I have it ranked roughly as follows:
1. Event 51 $400 Colossus - 66.7 dollars/hour
2. Event 54 $500 Salute to Warriors - 74.7 dollars/hour
3. Event 57 $600 Deep Stack Championship - 100 dollars/hour (note: improves from 40m to 60m levels if you make day 2)
4a. Event 5 $500 Housewarming - 117.7 dollars/hour (note: improves from 30m to 40m levels if you make day 2)
4b. Event 43 $500 NLHE Freezeout - 117.7 dollars/hour
6. Event 11 $600 NLHE - 133.3 dollars/hour
7a. Event 25 $800 NLHE - 160 dollars/hour
7b. Event 82 $800 NLHE - 160 dollars/hour
9. Event Event 75 $777 NLHE - 172.7 dollars/hour (note: improves from 30m to 40m levels if you make day 2)
You can find fault with the methodology here. It's not meant to be exact. As a rough barometer of value, I think it does have some utility though.
The main takeaway for me is that if you are a low stakes rec player type looking to squeeze the most value out of a brief trip, you should book around the weekend of 6/24 and aim to play Colossus ($400), Salute to Warriors ($500), and Deep Stack Championship ($600). Those are going to be perhaps the best value tournaments on the entire schedule, and they all occur within the same span of a few days. I would prioritize them over the $500 Housewarming.
The issue with all of these tournaments is that the field sizes are going to be HUGE. The Colossus will probably have 15-20k runners this year. So while you're going to have soft tables and great structure for the price point, there's simply a huge number of bodies to get through. You may be better off playing at another venue in a smaller field.
I didn't look at many of the bigger events, but in the $1k-2k price range, it's clear that the Monster Stack and Milly Maker are going to be strong options. You pay a slightly higher price to compete in these, but you're rewarded with 60 minute levels for the duration of the event, offering a lot more play on average. The $1,111 One Drop is another great option with 60 minute levels. These are going to be better options than the weekday stuff in this price range, which will tend to have 30-40m levels on day one. One note is that the One Drop and the Salute to Warriors take some money out of the prize pool for charity, which is a factor to consider.
The Main Event continues to set the standard with a huge starting stack and two hour levels, but of course you are paying $10k for that privilege.
RIP to The Marathon. Don't see it on the schedule this year.
