Good luck finding a weekday Rio room for $29 during the Series.
Paid $19 last year every weekday. Haven't missed a year since 2003.

It's true that if you play in the pit, you will usually get a better rate.

You might want to apply this to some of your research. You could easily get by with well under $1k for hotels if you research and are prepared to shuttle. Caesars offer players rates at all their properties so you could stay somewhere like the Quad which would be cheaper, but take much longer. You should be researching your dates already.

Budget break out...
Goal roll $6-7k

1 $1500 tournament
1 $1000 tournament
Flight - $500
Hotel - $1000-1500
Food/miscellaneous $1500-2500
I'm not sure how much flexibility you have with your budget, but if I was going primarily to play poker and you were looking in the $3k range and really wanted to play a bracelet event, I'd be thinking along the lines of:

1x $1.5k WSOP tourney
1x DSE $400 / $500 tourney
2-3 $200 range tourneys (Daily Deepstacks / other series around town)
2-3 single table sats

Just my 2c.

I interpret the timing the same way.

I would love to see at the $1.5k level:

1. Triple Stud
2. Mixed Max
3. 10 / 8 Game

I'd play any of those if they were on when I can be there...

By the sounds of things, they are going with Matt Glantz's proposal
1500s and 10ks for most major games.
Superb all round if true.

It's about a half-mile from air-conditioned building to air-conditioned building. Then about another half-mile through the Rio to the WSOP in the convention center. Not horrible if you're in good health. I was there one year with a foot injury and another year with a back injury and it was brutal.

One thing you don't want to do is go through the ground floor of the Gold Coast parking garage. It's the valet area and Security will chase you out.

Never found heat to be an issue on that walk, even during summer.

What?? Never had this happen and never seen any type of security there, but then I only walk through during the day, for my own safety.

+1.

I've done it probably 30 times. I've never seen any security there.

So they announce in December that the schedule will be announced in January. Fast forward to February when tease the release of the schedule for next week. What kind of two-bit Mickey Mouse operation are they running? Get your **** together, Caesars.

I've walked through there past midnight numerous times and have only seen security guards once. They did not care at all.

Thanks for the post Aussie…I was definitely just putting in a range for the hotel pricing going a little big budget wise intentionally. I definitely want to stay either at the Rio or at the Gold Coast which was recommended as being quieter and still close by. As for all those smaller tournaments are they all in the Rio or spread out at other casinos? I really wasn’t planning on traveling down the strip for this trip, so if the Rio has these I can definitely look into it.

Edit I can look at the smaller tournaments (wasn't meaning to be lazy again) just was asking a general question on if they had a bunch of tournaments like you suggested.

The Rio will be awash with poker 24/7 during the series. In particular the daily deep-stack events ... the main one being the 3pm start which will be a huge tournament, especially late in the series. But also at 6pm and 10pm and tourneys at 9am and all sorts of 1-table sats, and a huge range of cash games.

Plus all the other major poker rooms will have tournaments multiple times, every day.

I can see what people mean about going crazy at The Rio but I think I'll stay there again this year because I value being really nearby for the WSOP and for a week I can absolutely deal with 24/7 wall-to-wall poker .... as someone said earlier, once you you've been ... it's almost irresistible to keep coming back.

I think myself and my friend I go with are special when I hear about people paying for rooms. This will be my third year going and I've never paid a cent for a room at the Rio on a 7-10 night stay. If I play any pit games it may be for an hour total during the trip and I average $50 bets. Last year I had a gold card with a measly 768 tier score and I was comped 5 days through the weekend for free during the series. My friend booked the other 5 nights free. This year is the same and my Tier score on gold is currently 0.

I wouldn't want to walk any distance with an injury, but you're exaggerating. It isn't a half mile from the entrance of the RIO to the convention area. Its about a 3 or 4 minute walk.

How do you get comped? When I log in total rewards website and put in my card number it takes rates down virtually about 3 dollars a night. And I played in the ME last year. Do you call some super secret phone number and plead for comps? I dont understand how you guys get all these deals

When are you trying to reserve? Tier points expire Jan 1st so I'll usually book some random date before Jan 1st to make sure it's comped. Then if I like another week better I'll move it online. After it's comped you can usually edit the reservation for the same rate. As long as it's still the same day range( IE M-F)

I just log in to total rewards and click reservations and most everything besides weekends when big stuff is around(Super Bowl, New Years, March madness) is comped.
