Great work, is some of the data blank on the rake sheet due to waiting on the details from the tourneys? like Aria, PH, and Binions?

Kenny, I have a question about the Rake page of the spreadsheet.
What do the x's represent marked under different venues?
Does that mean the casino has an event at that buy-in?

Thanks again. It was a great help last year.

Made some updates on the rake.
Where there's an 'x' it means that I can't find the details of the rake from that specific buy-in.

I don't see a single event under $1,000 that has rake less than 10%. Binion's $1,000 event is the lowest buy-in to have single-digit rake (8%). Was the rake this bad in previous years?

I'm very fortunate to have local casino tournaments that have very beatable rake of 3.6%-6% for buy-ins as low as $160-$560, so I won't bother buying into any Vegas events. Thanks again for the info.

3-6% rake? What part of the world does this exist in.

Mohawk Racetrack (Woodbine) Ontario has electronic tables that have daily tournaments that get 10-25 players and have that rake.

Basically, it's not a real tournament, so you can ignore his previous post.

That's what I found on the schedule and structure sheets. They only mention a 3% withholding for the $240 Legends event, for any other event there is no mention of a 3% which is unique so maybe if somebody could confirm this I would appreciate it.

Regards,
Kenny

Lucky recreational players in Ontario, Canada have many low-rake tournaments available every month, such as the bimonthly $285+$15 at Casino Rama (only 5% rake). I was looking at SpaceyFCB's very useful info, but when I entered the rake of the local tournaments that I play in to compare, I realized that it makes no sense for foreign residents like me subject to the 30% withholding tax to buy into US tournaments.

Are there tournaments other than 10ks and $100 dailies at bellagio this summer?

Its pretty rare to see things under ten percent rake in the states, uless its a buyin above $500. I'm from Detroit and the three major casinos rarely run tournaments and when they do its usually in the 20-30% rake. There are "charity rooms" out here as well, but gaming law says they have to charge a min of 20%.

Except that you get nowhere near the field sizes.

In any event, rake in tournaments in the Asia Pacific seems to be fairly similar to those in the US (I say this anecdotally without an empirical study). I have played in Australia, New Zealand and Macau.

AR, how do the fields compare talent/skill wise to US (say at $1500 WSOP events) fields? Have you played any VDSE events and can you also compare Asia pacific fields against the VDSE fields?

As a broad generalisation, I would suggest that the fields I've played in the Aussie tournament series events have been a bit stronger than the average Vegas field as the % of regulars is much higher. Vegas, in general, picks up a lot more passing and tourist traffic and that traffic is more willing to part with a couple of hundred bucks for a poker tournament. The average tourist in Aus / NZ is less likely to see playing a tournament as an experience they need whilst in Aus / NZ.

Having said that, when I was in Auckland (NZ) for work and played in their weekly tournaments, the field wasn't that strong. I generally only play the tournament series here in Australia, as if I'm at home, I'd rather just multi-table online.

Congrats goes out to the Nugget for the highest rake in a tournament at 28%. A close second to 2 WSOP tournaments, the $75 9am (27%) and $135 10pm (26%).

I confirmed with Binion's tournament poker manager, Paul Campbell, that only the LCS has the extra 3% deduction.

I make sure to drink enough free beers which normally I'd have to pay $3-4 for in michigan. It's a solid rake back system.

I am going out to Vegas this weekend. Unfortunately, due to time I will not be able to play any 2 day events. Is there a decent 200 or 300 daily that runs this friday or saturday that usually has a good field size and will be done in under 12 hours.

Ive checked cp.com for las vegas poker schedule but I am sure some are subject to change with all the series' going on. Thanks for your input

Thank you to OP for all your hard work again.
