I'm a US resident currently in Australia but will be in Macau for this series.

1. Would I be able to use my Stars account to buy in to the events?

2. If yes to #1, can I receive transfers on Stars?

3. If no to #1, can I wire money for my buyins?

1. Yes
2. Yes

Assuming that you are allowed to access your stars account and play when you aren't in the USA at the moment.

Hi miw210,

Slightly confused so want to be clear here.

The PokerStars client isn't available to US residents.

However, if you mean you're American but currently live in Australia and you have an active verified account then:

1. Yes, you can use your PokerStars account to buy into all the tournaments and satellites at the 'PokerStars LIVE Macau' poker room. Online registration is already available for all ACOP tourneys under the 'Events' tab, then click PSLive + Macau.

2. Tournament winnings can be received in cash, transferred to your PokerStars account, or a combination of both.

Hope that helps.

Good luck!

Fred

Hi jmo123,

The Main Event and 250k High Roller are both freezeouts.

The 500k Super High Roller allows for 2 rebuys (vs. re-entry) anytime during the 6-hour registration period.

Otherwise, all the listed tournaments are freezeouts except the obvious $500 Rebuy and $2500 Rebuy Championship.

Good luck!

If anyone wants to chop a room, and doesn't mind a 20 min walk from the venue, I have the Grandview Hotel for the duration of the series. Four star hotel at $109/night, $54 a man. Can provide refs and expect the same, unless well known in the community. PM if interested

Do you have to have zero chips or any other condition to be able to rebuy in the shr? Since it is a rebuy there is no rake, only the 1% tip taken out?

Hi CarlosChadha,

The structures to all the ACOP events are here:
http://psta.rs/2014ACOP-structures

In the MBP Super High Rollers, you can make up to 2 rebuys anytime during the registration time which is 6 levels (6 hours).

There is no portion of the buyin that is used for tipping. But there is rake taken from each buyin and rebuy as per world PokerStars standard.

Cheers,

Fred

Staffing costs = tip which I assume is coming out of the total prize pool. Also, you're free to do what you want but I don't think charging rake on rebuys is a world PokerStars standard, online definitely doesn't and I'm fairly sure EPTs don't in the few they run. Re-entry events are a different thing.

Nowhere, live or online, have rebuys ever been raked

Pardon, I should really be more concise. First off, I'm specifically on the PS team in Asia so I don't want confusion that I somehow represent the PS global operations.

A lot of tournaments are re-entry vs. rebuy so I understand there is a distinction in the structure itself.

In a re-entry event you MUST be eliminated before re-entering.
In a rebuy you MAY be eliminated before you re-enter.

Debatable perhaps, but I don't think there's a distinct difference at this exact point on why you would have admin fee in one case and not the other.

The real difference, logistically speaking, is that players in the rebuy event are given the freedom of choosing when to gain more chips. The rebuy means players don't have to bust (and in some cases intentionally bust) in order to get more chips.

Are there players who prefer rebuy vs. re-entry and vice versa? Absolutely. And we try to offer both structures.

But for the discussion of rake, the admin fee is applied to any tournament buy-in where players elect to gain more chips.

I understand that there may be those who disagree. Just wanted to explain some of the rationale behind it.

It states at the bottom of page 3 of the pdf that you linked to that "1% of the prize pool is taken out to offset staffing costs". That is what I was referring to as "tip".

So to be absolutely clear for each buyin/rebuy 4,800 goes to "staffing costs", 20,000 goes to "rake" and the remaining 475,200 goes back to the players, correct?

Hi CarlosChadha,

This is correct.

I'm going to get in at approx. 4pm for the warm up event and forgot my pslive card. I don't know how long it will take to get seated, so if I buy in online in advance will I be blinded off from the start or when does late reg end? Sorry basically I'm asking how long is late reg and what is the policy regarding online entrants being late?

Hi pvas,

The structure page shows the late registration length on the first 3 pages.

For the structures CLICK HERE

The numbered events typically have 2 hours of late registration.

EXCEPTIONS (late registration length in brackets):
15k PLO Championship (4hrs)
15k NLH (4hrs)
250k High Roller (6hrs)
500k Super High Roller (6hrs)
Main Event (registration open until Start of Day 2)

The 'PokerStars LIVE Macau' poker room doesn't use the PSLIVE card from the EPT. But you do need to bring your passport and get a CityClub card from the City of Dreams Casino (it's very simple).

The policy for players who register online have now changed. If you register online, your start bank (re: chips) will not be brought into play until you:
a) pick up your entry ticket and take your seat
b) late registration has ended

Good luck!

The SHR day 1 is going to run from 6pm-3am day 1. Restart day 2 is 2pm. Can we push it to 3:00PM? Every other day 2 is 3:00.

Is there any special arrangement between City of Dreams and Crown Melbourne when it comes to wiring money.. ie at close to xe.com rate or at least offer change-back at the same rate? Both share the same owner and plenty of ppl are going from WSOP APAC direct to ACOP..

Closing reg of the SHR after 6 levels makes no sense when there's only 8 levels day 1. Should def be able to reg/rebuy til start of day 2

I don't know anything about this but if you take cash to a bank (not casino) in Macau they give very good (~0.5%) exchange rates.

Declaring on the way out of Australia is a complete non-issue (fill out a form), I've never declared in HK or Macau (I think I tried and couldn't find anyone that cared). I've done a lot of declaring and never get why people make a big deal out of it, has never taken me more than 30 minutes or caused any hassle for me. It's possible some countries in Asia are worse for this though.

Hi fees,

TD discretion is the only thing that could change the SHR Day 2 start time. I can only see that happening if the Day 1 field is even more massive than we're expecting.

In all honestly though, it's very unlikely start times will change at this stage.

PS Day 2 of the 2m Spadie is also 2pm. Yes, I'm being a lil' cheeky

Hi 663366,

PokerStars isn't involved with casino-to-casino transfers as it's the venue itself that does this. PS offers the use of the online client for registration if players do not with to DBI.

Players at Crown Melbourne can make the request at the cage to transfer to City of Dreams but it's at their discretion.

If you want to find out other money wire options please email macau@pokerstars.net

Cheers,

Fred
