Well, I'm down south of the Mason-Dixon, so it seems like a good time to try some beer I can't otherwise get. Tonight I tried two brews from Swee****er, an Atlanta microbrewery that seems to be present in even tiny GA dive bars, but doesn't seem to make it up to my neck of the woods at all.
With dinner, I tried the Swee****er Sweet Georgia Brown, a brown ale, as you might guess. No idea the ABV or going rate for a sixer, but I was drinking pints for $3 out of a plastic cup at a total dive near the hotel I'm staying at. It's a fairly earthy brown ale with a decent sweetness to it. I like the flavor, but the texture wasn't great. The carbonation felt more like soda water than beer. I give it
.
I also picked up a sixer of the Swee****er Hummer white ale on my way back to my room, one of which I'm enjoying now. While allegedly a Belgian white brewed with the usual orange and coriander, it tastes much more like a Bavarian hefe, not that that's really a bad thing. It's a hair too sweet, very spicy, but not as tart and wheaty as some whites. It's got a smoother maltiness like a hefe, along with some banana and clove flavor, driving the comparison home. It's a good
and a half
beer.
One beer I also tried recently but forgot to review was the Roosterfish hefeweizen. Roosterfish is a NY brewery that seems to be fairly new on the scene. I expect them to do well, though. Their hefeweizen is now the reigning champion for best American imitation of a German-style hefeweizen that I've had. Very good.

Edit: LOL at the "t-wat" of Sweet-water" getting censored.
