Maybe I'll start a new thread about tattoos. I'll never get a tattoo no way no how, and I don't like how they look on women.

That's not really important - how do you feel about how they look on guys?

Oh and

It's a thread-topic worthy of rolling eyes. I mean, do you really think anybody with a tattoo cares what you think about them having tattoos on their bodies?

No tramp-stamp whore is an island. I think John Donne said that.

Then why did they get a tattoo in the first place? So they could admire themselves and their new body acquisition in a mirror?
A very frivolous and uninteresting person gets a tattoo in order to look less frivolous and more interesting than they really are. The result is, a very frivolous and uninteresting person with a tattoo that won't come off.

I was thinking more of a general tattoo thread, where tattooed people could display their inky finery, the idea of tattoos could be discussed, etc.

Not an anti-tattoo thread, a general tattoo thread.

Maybe they just got a tattoo to commemorate a lost loved one and/or an alive loved one. Maybe they got one because they were drunk. Maybe it was for ****s and giggles. Maybe just because they felt like it. If someone got a tattoo on their leg, arm, foot, etc., they could see it themselves without a mirror. It's only the back that you really can't see.

Again, why bother sharing such a negative opinion? Someone else having a tattoo has nothing to do with you and/or affects you not at all. And I doubt your opinion makes any difference to them anyway.

I've met many interesting people with tatoos. People get tatoos for a variety of reasons, and it asn't strictly to compensate for a lack of personality. I have a friend that is a rugby player, has alot of schooling, and could probably out-do a good portion of smp in philosophy. Just telling a person to bug off, flipping them off as uninteresting because of body paint is pretty condescending.

I guess it's back-and-forth like tennis. If someone bothers to share silly opinions, it is bound to wake up some negative ones and vice-versa.

Are you saying that someone with a tatoo has zero worth of your time?

I wouldn't go as far as M8Ludi. No judgments about the people who get tattoos here. I find tattoos aesthetically displeasing, but to each his/her own, live and let live.

I like the idea of original equipment, short of some medical need like a pacemaker or skin graft or something.

I would not flat-line them at zero. Certainly, I would be less curious about them or their opinions.

You should just put me on your "ignore list" right now then.

LOL! I would hate to be so obliging. That's not in my nature.

Many people care pretty deeply what others think of their tattoos. It's why they get all excited when someone likes them or get all offended when someone doesn't.

Note: Not all, but many. At least in my experience.

I feel like most everything people do anymore is because of recognition from an outside source. This goes well beyond simple tattoos.

I agree with a lot of that.

Also, like M8ludi, I find tattoos ugly and stupid. There have been at most a handful of them that I found actually looked at all interesting or good, and the idea of deforming your body in anyway strikes me as idiotic regardless.

I don't ask anybody to agree with me. It's just the way I feel about it. Everyone's entitled to his own tastes and opinions. If anyone doesn't like it he can go get stuffed, and he's also entitled to figure I can do the same.

Not saying fan/not-fan is the deal. Just to pass off a person with a tatoo as uninteresting is just weird. If M8ludi is fat, i would find it comical though.

So following the logic of the part I bolded from your post, you must disdain the appearance of anybody who wears earrings of any sort then too? Cuz god knows those holes ain't natural and are a deformation of the body.

<sorry>! I have a wonderful metabolism. Meat, potatoes, ice cream, cheeses, breads, butter...and I'm not much heavier than I was as a very healthy nineteen-year-old!

I swear to God, you people could get into a heated argument about absolutely anything! It seems that you live to argue. You will slam each other with insults with long tedious posts, in a 200 post thread, and nobody gives a ****!

Wasn't the tattoo thread your idea in the first place, Nero?
