Reviews are out... IN DETAIL.
Not sure how to interpret them other than to say it's a must see.
Like I really needed a reviewer to tell me if a movie is good or not.

I'm surprised the reaction wasn't tempered at all by the flak for his treatment of women

Not sure I understand that sentiment... Beatrix Kiddo is his Superwoman.

Did not see JW 1 or 2, no matter- I enjoy #3. Only difficult problem I had was deciding if I liked Vivaldi more than l like guns. Perhaps the solution to this conundrum will be rectified in JW 4. It better be; or I'll be pissed.

why would you watch the third one if you hadn't seen the first two?

***

The first 20 minutes of The Predator remake was so laughably bad I turned it off.

@phat: you forgot the Vivaldi Fu, it created quite a storm. Also, Dante is a good read, even if a mouthful at times.

Like Frank Sinatra, I do things my way. You should know that by now, Dom.

I hope ya'll noticed that the Wick3 producers must lurk the Lounge, because that's our Kyary singing in the sushi bar.

What do you guys know about the bright burn story?
Is it a superman origin story or some character that just has the same superpowers?

Looks like a “what if Superman was a dik” story

Well... it appears Otomo's 'AKIRA' has a solid release date in 2021. Directed by Taika Waititi.

What is the target audience for live-action Akira supposed to be?

Kinda curious about Brightburn but apparently it's super-gorey so maybe I'll pass.

My opinion of Akira grows higher every time I watch it. I saw it a month ago, a day after I saw a current film, High Life. Both films are about a post-apocalyptic future, and both have endings where protagonists disappear into the unknown, but Akira was a so much better scripted, better integrated, and better composed movie. I've got a bad feeling about the live action remake. I fear a shoot-em-up or a biker movie is in our future.

I have a bad feeling about it also.

If it doesn't star 13 year old Japanese actors, its gonna be kind of hard to take.

Many folks that watch the Anime version of Akira fail to realize that these were very young teenagers... kind of like 'stand by me'... except, you know... post nuclear Japanese.

The oldest group character was Yamagata, and he was only 15 years old I believe.

They really only slightly touch on this in the movie, but the books go deeply into it.

If you've never had the chance to see Otomo's Akira on the big screen in Japanese language, you've really missed out. The set/background paintings are really magnificent and it's nearly impossible to see the detail on a home monitor.

Looks like something thrown together at Fox as a midseason replacement.

Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo (Grade: D) is a baffling passion project whose cruelly protracted runtime is eclipsed only by the monumentally tedious way it fills it. For an interminable three and a half hours, the Tunisian-French director Abdellatif Kechiche numbed our asses (and minds) with nothing but ass: a parade of gyrating, jiggling flesh, belonging to a group of hot but terminally boring French twentysomethings on summer vacation, burning a seemingly endless evening at a nondescript nightclub where the film—after a brief and comparatively enthralling prologue on the beach—strands us for its shapeless entirety. That this colossal bore, the walk-out disaster of Cannes (à la Sea Of Trees or The Last Face, only twice the ****ing length of either), earned a spot in the competition lineup is the only evidence you could ever need that once you’ve gotten into this club, you’re in.

You must have a heart of stone...

I enjoyed it and sat chuckling at the nonsense and gorged myself on all the low hanging fruit gags.

You didn't like the "Welcome Parents and STDs" announcement on the school?

If by awful, you mean awesome, I agree.

It’s a Godzilla movie, Clovis. It’s supossed to be cheesy. Have some some fun, Man.

As soon as I saw some autistic kid was about to be bullied, I turned it off. I mean, come on.

Yeah, okay, but "This is Godzilla's world. We just live in it"?

How does an actor say that without laughing?
