None of this is a spoiler as far as I can tell since its in reviews and ads.
Ever wonder how crazy someone is who web chats with you? Apparently they could dangerously serious. I happened to see this documentary on TV the other night was impressed. Anybody who communicates in internet chat rooms and forums should be mesmerized by "talhotblond:". Its a true, sexy, chilling story of three strangers that chat without meeting, develop intense feelings, disrupt their personal lives, start a love triangle, results in a real life murder, prison, and still has one more final, sick twist.

Thanks for the link. That youtube "the_parlor_dsl" video was a well done, creative, fictional story. It was creepy even before the twist ending which kind of made it funny. To give the ending more punch, maybe the guy at the door needed to be holding a weapon. Anyway Talhotblond is something like that but wth real people and real chat logs. ( BTW I'm was not implying that people should stop posting to forums like twoplustwo where I have happily posted for several years.)

Just saw talhotblond last night, and it was definitely a very creepy story. I felt very bad for the young guy who was shot, and obviously his family as well. Seeing this documentary begs the question of what laws of accountability and responsibility need to be created in regards to the internet.

Anyone else feel the mother got away with too much? How is what she did not a form of identity theft, at the very least?

There has been a few similar situations. Killing time on the internet is one thing but actually thinking you have some kind of connection with someone you have never met is just messed up.

I'm not sure where I would draw the line but anything where you think you actually have a romantic relationship with someone you haven't met would certainly be on the messed up side.

Depends on how you define friendship but I would say no. There are people who post that I like and who I find interesting but discussing mostly fluff topics on a website is insufficient to consider them friends.

This documentary scared the hell out of me. I have a friend on another forum that I have never met, and we email privately once or twice a week and have been for about 2 years. I consider him a friend, a good friend. My immediate feeling was "I wonder if he is a psycho" after seeing this.
