This illustrates the problem nicely. If they had only ended the song after +/- 3 minutes, the Doors could have enjoyed a reputation as an OK almost-rock band. Instead, they leave the transition to pure dreck in there, and the "Aren't-we-cool" screaming relegates them to the dustbin of history.

Alternatively, they could have waited for the invention of Auto-Tune, or, better yet, Auto-Tune Pro, before releasing this infliction upon the world.

Other bands that were the creation of West-Coast promo men managed to overcome the circumstances of their birth, the Monkees come to mind, but not so the Doors.

I try to exterminate all opinions wherever I find them, but it's hard not to opine that the Doors are nothing more that a great big steaming pile of horse dung.
