It's Friday and since Ray's drinking buddy used to be Tiny Tim; I think that should inspire everyone to quit work (or whatever else nonsense you are doing) and head to best bar around and start drinking and don't stop until you see cowgirls floating across the ceiling.

That's what I'm doing.

I am out of work, not that I really want to be. Nice afternoon. My former assistant and the assistant to our former dean took me out to lunch today. On Wednesday evening, my other former assistant in the English Department came to take me out to dinner. Makes me believe I must have been a good boss. Either that or I fill women with pity.

Good to hear you are getting out and enjoying company and are lapping up free food; and I have no doubt you are a good person to work for. And you should be out of work mode for the weekend. Go out and cause some trouble for yourself - life is too short to always be good.

Actually, I paid for lunch, so it wasn't free food. But I always pay for the admins. My brother took me out to dinner last night.

My next gig is in about a week. After a month of silence, I finally get a chance to talk to the girl who is co-playing the event. I asked her if she wanted to do the show, and yes, she does (she says), but she's super nervous about it.

This would be a good time to get some rehearsal time and try to feel out how it will all go down since we have a 3 1/2 hour spot together (we don't have to fill it all). It's possible we would end up drumming for each other on a cajon, but sheesh, we don't know each other's music that well. I'm far from 4 on the floor, which often tosses drummers for a loop. Hell, I'm not even sure if we even need one yet.

Then there are other possible plans, but then again, that may or may not happen. "I'm sorry, my communication sucks..." well, at least she's aware of this.

Musicians have a reputation for being flaky.

I spent the weekend in the countryside and made nettle soup.

https://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/nettle-soup

You just pick stinging nettles for free, and they make a great soup. Complex and slightly sweet, and full of vitamins and nutrients and stuff. The countryside is awesome.

ive got nettles growing on my property. they are indeed good.
also make choke cherry jelly and oregon grape jelly.
pick mushrooms. morels especially.
i have apple, cherry, plum, peach, and walnut trees on my place.

plenty of good tasting food for sure.

Nettle soup sounds like a great idea. I have nettles galore also. And skunk cabbage, which is slightly poisonous raw. I think some people and native Indians used the dried leaves, as a medicine in soup.

It is Monday and the start of another work week. Enjoy.

It can't be worse than last week. Being the first time in 3 years I had to use an alarm clock to get a paycheck, week #3 of early morning work ripped me apart. I slept until 2pm on Saturday.

I'll do my best to last...

I'm still at home. Haven't worked since April 13th. Doc wrote me out of work for three months last Friday. I'll see if I can make it two more weeks without going back.

I think this is true. John put up with me for 4 days in NYC showing that he is a glutton for punishment, to toss out a threadbare cliché.

Make it three weeks is my advice. Catch up on some old movies (the less know ones from the excellent draft), read some poetry, grill up some steaks, and shoot out random windows throughout RI using a bebe gun.

And read and ponder on an excellent book, I recommend this one:

How to Live: Or A Life of Montaigne in One Question and Twenty Attempts at an Answer by Sarah Bakewell. This is an excellent book and won some silly award. The award is meaningless but the book is highly worth reading.

Also, go to beach and piss in the ocean. It feels good.

Looks like arm-girl and davet aren't going to be going on any hot dates any time soon.

Eh, that's life.

I don't know about the rest, but a nice piss in the great outdoors does the spirit good.

Two of the lights of my life. My daughter is wearing a Maurauder's Map dress while my granddaughter is, of course, in full regalia.
