R.I.P. Soupy Sales R.I.P. Soupy Sales

I had almost forgotten that Soupy Sales existed. He used to have a kids TV show in the mid 1960's that I used to watch when I was little. Had never heard of him since.

Another thing that I will always appreciate about Soupy is that the only footage that I have ever seen on YouTube of the great Clifford Brown is on the Soupy Sales show. It is heart breaking at the end to hear Clifford talk about his baby knowing that his tragic end was soon to occur.

The nude bit he's famous for was pretty funny. He's been out of the limelight forever.

His sons played with Iggy Pop in the 80's. Iggy talked about them with Letterman one time.

Soupy was a little before my time. I do remember him on Match Game, and he'd often show up on sitcoms.

NPR described him as an anarchist, based on the fact that he asked kids to get money out of their parents' wallets and mail it to him.
