standard play after horrible service is to pay the full bill with no tip.

The one time I ever received truly, inexcusably bad service, I left a pile of 20 pennies as a tip. I was pissssssssssssssssed.

within 3 years i have had 3 truly awful experiences. another restaurant lost my business when we sat for 20 minutes before we realized our waitress was serving everyone but us. it was breakfast, we didn't even get coffee lol i asked for the manager, he gave me the "it's easy to overlook ppl when we are short-staffed like this. i don't even have time for this conversation so please take your seat and we'll get to you when we can." we left, i emailed the restaurant website, they replied "he's a franchise owner, he can do what he wants" lol owned

Leroy_Jenkins45, the service was pretty awful. it's all in how you talk to ppl. it's difficult to describe the body language, the tone, the volume of how they spoke to me. i've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant, even before the whole bill incident.

I'm fine with how you handled it, too. I LOATHE crappy service, and then to have them get aggressive with you, too? No.

I had a parking lot situation a few years back too.

Driving back from JFK with a friend after a trip to Vegas, we were ghosted as hell and stopped at a place in Greenwich or Darien CT for a beer or two before making the rest of the drive home. My friend was a pretty sketchy-looking dude, but we were very polite and quiet at the bar, and the place was pretty casual and emptyish anyway, so there were no etiquette infractions of any kind.

We each had two beers, and the bartender brought us the check, which was $22. I left a twenty and a ten, for an $8 tip, which is way more than ample for serving us four beers. We sit another ten minutes and leave.

Getting to my car, some pumped up dbag comes flying out of the place and runs right up to us. He goes "Woah woah woah, hold on a minute there gentlemen. You'll need to come back in and pay your bill. There's no skipping out here!"

I was caught WAY off guard, but came back with "Tell you what. We paid our bill and overtipped. We're getting in the car right now. If you touch me, we're both going to kill you, and your crappy restaurant will have a lawsuit. Bye."

So we get in the car and drive away.

Good enough, right? No.

I get on 95 north, then get pissed about the tip. I get off immediately, turn around and drive back to the place. I walk straight up to the bar and the same bartender is there.

"Sir, I believe I left my change on the bar. $8.00. Please give it to me now."

Ha skulks over to his little tip jar thing and fishes $8.00 out and hands it to me.

I say "Have a pleasant evening," and walk out of the place.

For every ten losses in life, I have one shining victory. This is just one such victory.
