It's nice to see more traffic in this forum. Hopefully one day they will make this place permanent.

I disagree with the statement that music alone couldn't hold the forum, but whatever. They need to get the name sorted out to where the other arts are reflected on the sidebar.

Listening very intently to music you don't like all day long. What could go wrong?

Most people don't know rhythms, so if someone transcribes exactly what was played (instead of what was intended), most people can't figure out the rhythms to play it correctly. A good example of this would be Nirvana Unplugged. Every time Kurt changes chords, he strums open strings. If you don't get the timing exact it will sound like it's transcribed incorrectly. Also, some people can't hear everything that's being played, so when they try to learn it slowly (but not counting it correctly) it sounds like there's extra **** in there, but it's really a user error.

The main reasons for actual legit mistakes usually are from ear fatigue after transcribing 17 hours to meet a deadline, and the calligrapher incorrectly tabbing the notation.

Another good example is Stevie Ray Vaughan's pride and joy. When I was a kid and still just learning, I tried to learn that song from a tab book. I had a hell of a time trying to figure out wtf was going on with the open string upstrokes. I was like, wtf ... this guy is completely insane. I just didn't get wtf was going on. It wasn't till I was quite a bit better at the guitar that I could get the rhythm down.

problem is that is wasn't holding it. i don't mind having drawing or other artists in here as well. could def broaden everyone in a way. with good art comes good music and a lot of times vice verse. love it.

Agreed. Having other art threads in here just makes it better, not worse. People can talk as much music/art ect. as they want, there is room for everything imo

I don't have a problem with it either but it seems like we were doing great before the blackout.

Here are some random pictures of concerts and stuff I have seen in the last year or so.

Here is a pictures from Phish 2011 in New York. (Super Ball)

That festival was alot of fun. I spent 3 days in New York camping and what not, then drove thru the night back to Michigan. Slept for 3 hours and then hopped on a plane to Vegas. It was an awesome vacation to say the least.

Here is a random picture from NAMM 2012.

The picture is of Steve Smith. One hell of a drummer imo.
-I wen to NAMM with 2 other people I work with. Usually we would split up the meetings but on the last day we all agreed to attend the Korg meeting. As soon I got there, I noticed Steve was playing with his band. Needless to say, I missed the whole meeting and just watched him play for an hour. No regrets on my part.... he is bad ass!

Here are some pictures of the Roger Waters show I just saw last week.

This is a shot of Detroit while waiting outside to get in.

That was the entrance to Joe Louis Arena. Joe Louis is really old and dirty but I love seeing shows there. I have seen Nine Inch Nails, Beastie Boys, and numerous other concerts at the Joe and always enjoy it.

This was at the beginning of the concert I think

End of the first set... after they finally finished building the Wall. BTW, that Wall is massive/huge.

I think that was in the second set. Hard to remember.

This one was my favorite picture that I took.

This is how the show ended.

-I have seen Roger Waters do the Wall live twice now, and I would go see it again. I really is a cool show.

Anyways, hope you liked some of the pictures. Hopefully other people start posting some of theirs too.

Nice.

Whats your thoughts on JLA? Every other venue is way newer. JLA is the only place left that has some history imo.

(Tiger Stadium was the best)

It is sort of funny that you feel that about JLA - I guess that because I experienced JLA as being brand new, it never lost that antiseptic feeling for me.

I always liked Cobo. Smaller. Old. Just felt like a place to go see a show.

Yes. Thats a pretty sick brag. I didnt start going to Phish shows until the mid 90s.

Do you still go see them live ever?

Nah, I got bored with the whole jam band scene. Had to admit to myself that the biggest draw was the drugs and the chix, so I stumbled into the rave scene for the early/mid 90's instead. Better drugs and cuter chix imo.

Plenty of fond memories tho.
