Tube amps kick ass, yes, but dude needs to work on his chops first. Most peeps have to play through a ****ty SS amp for a few years before being able to appreciate a tube amp.

So I have some news, the music forum ..isn't really going "well" yes you have topics but you all I am sure are keenly aware that there isn't a ton of posting here or even visitors.
One thing we talked about (we the mods/admins and we some the users here) is expanding this out to a more "arts" friendly forum ,like photography, painting, etc.
Being this is a playground I think its a good idea to incorporate it now and see how it do.

If you have a heavy concern please speak up, if you like the idea also speak up!

You obviously know nothing about creative personalities. Stemming from prehistoric times, visual artists and sonar artists have been sworn mortal enemies. Rocks used to make click-clack sounds around a campfire were often used to bash the skulls of cave painters. Likewise there is much anthropological evidence of mass graves of tribal drummers skewered through their hearts with Antelope bone paintbrushes.

Even today the secret societies that you are forced to join upon the purchase of your first guitar or canvas require a blood oath that includes a pledge of allegiance against the other camp.

But other than that I think it is a great idea.

I know far more then you think , or I care to admit publicly. Lets just say I hung out with "creative" people then I did with non. The line between cyber nerd and art nerd was very thin in my HS/College days.

What I do know is that "creative" people , regardless of what they are creating all believe they are there own unique snowflakes in this world. Unfortunately in the world of forum creation you get to be all unique snowflakes together!!

In other words, and more simply, this forum isn't holding water if you want a place to talk music outside the confines of OOT or 4L or the lounge , you need let the AV and photo nerds play in your sandbox too.

Sure, this forum is much slower than many, however, if you compared traffic levels of all forums post and pre-hack, I'm sure you'd see that all the casual forums are down in numbers. There was some momentum developing pre-hack, then two weeks off and you lost many viewers. It has only been a week and a half back. This forum, right now, really feels like it did during the first week it was implemented. Give it another month before making any adjustments, imo.

The drop off is perhaps 1% across the board and some foruma s high as 30%-40% looking at numbers prior still doesn't really help your cause.

A month is to long....there is talk about making a photography forum that has some traction now...somethings got to give.

I really appreciate the fact that you even created this forum Killa. I also do not see how having threads in here about other types of art forms will be a negative. I am all for having more traffic in here and having a wider range of topics to discuss is cool also. In other words, I like the idea.

I was just horsing around (clearly, I thought).

I think it is great if we can somehow get an Artistic vibe going that will involve enough people to reach a sustainable level of discussion.

Before .t.u.q swoops in and says I am taking credit for its creation I just helped it along , being the vocal advocate against forum dilution with in the land of "off topic" forums it tends to fall to me.

Perhaps not, but I think this forum falls into the 30%-40% drop off. Things were just starting to build momentum as the sidebar was starting to be noticed, and then a huge drop off is essentially starting all over again.

I understand that, but it's just going to be another spinoff of OOT...

Seriously, how many posts in this forum the week preceding the hack, and how many posts in the history forum during the same time span? That place looks like a ghost town, as well. A quick glance in the history forum shows 7 threads having posts after 5/12; here 13 threads updated since 5/12.

The reason I do get involved heavily with these is I try to avoid the OOT spinoff...

It just seems illogical that the history forum has worse problems and doesn't have its head on the chopping block.

Quick adding (+/- margin of something, I'm sure, but insignificant nonetheless):

History Forum 3/4/11 (14 months): 2643 posts
Musicians Forum 1/27/12 (4 months): 2536 posts

But hey, we're musicians and use the side entrance; we're used to people feeling our subject is of little importance. Sure, one could argue history has more relevance in the importance of survival of mankind and you won't get much static from me, however, that's quite a huge discrepancy in post counts when inferring this forum isn't getting the job done.

not great, but can do them better. strength still isn't there though. don't get to play a ton now since i became the kitchen manager. mainly just working on scales so that i am still playing.

Well if you are working on scales, you are def better than me. I still screw with chords.... havent got my fingers moving yet.

Kitchen manager huh? I always preferred the FOH as apposed to the BOH.
