Ron Paul is a libertarian who actually got elected, somewhere in Texas I think, on the Republican ticket. He was running for the republican ticket in the primaries and had a lot of support just not nearly enough the get on the ballot.

I am sure wookie could give a far more detailed and correct explaination. I liked him back during the primarys and for some crazy reason he is on the ballot in Montana. So, I am casting my useless vote for him!!!!

LOL, Ya, it does actually sound tasty.
I just picture getting my ass kicked if I would dare to order something like that at the poker table in the neighborhood bar. The ass kicking would start at the mention of something called tawny port or sherry. Someone would think I was talking about their sister.

For the record, I believe Obama wins today. I will be one amazed somewhat conservative redneck if McCain actually somehow pulls this out.

So, I just voted and I didn't get a sticker. (I am going to get my free coffee from Starbucks and free donut from Krispy Kreme later though.) Apparently, I'm not registered in the district where I went to vote - though I thought I updated that when I got my bonafide NY State Driver's License - but guess not. I have just seen the oldest polling booths in existence though...they were little metal boxes with a curtain and a crank on the side...crazy.

But this is the bestest news of all - the place where I voted is a church...and they had a huge BINGO sign outside. My 80-year-old soul jumped and clapped its arthritic hands in glee. BINGO BINGO BINGO. I need to get my own dauber.

You think Groucho will appoint Harpo as attorney general, like Kennedy did his brother?

Maybe some of you Noo Yawkas can answer this: on CNN, they reported that some polling places did not have enough machines (apparently, NYC still uses those old lever type machines) for the crowds that were forming, so they were delaying opening the doors until they got some more machines...

Huh?

Some sort of Big City Yankee Logic?

I thought ya'll were supposed to be the smart ones...

I don't know anything about the delays since I don't live in the heavily congested areas of Manhattan proper, but I can verify that they had the old lever type machines. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them but it's true.

I wonder where this was? According to the workers at my polling place, they opened bright and early at 6AM, and it was a steady stream, but no insane lines. I waited about 40 minutes, but the line never actually grew that much since I was there. This was about 8AM. But I agree, that logic makes no sense. Also, this was in Queens and like Hobby, not Manhattan proper.

Not sure exactly where it was...big place you folks have up there...

My wife thought I had just misunderstood the reporter, than they repeated it and she heard it. We just kind of stood there and looked at each other.

Then again, it was reported by CNN's John Roberts, who seems to be the second coming of Ted Baxter, so he may have misconjugated a verb or something...

I early voted this year, and I regret it. I had to wait about an hour (which is what most down here are reported as having to wait today), and this is the first election in a while that I am not working the election. So I kind of miss the excitement and interaction of election day. I feel like there's a party happening, and my invitation got lost in the mail...

No problems voting about an hour ago here. They even had a law on the ballot to make possession of up to 1oz marijuana a civil offense and no longer file criminal charges for possession. You know I voted yes on that mutha.

Awesome. How are they predicting the outcome for that law? Is it looking like it'll pass?

Q: What makes an eighty year old woman say "****"

A: The eighty-three year old woman next to her saying "BINGO"

ok I voted! And I got me a little sticker too! There were only 2 people in front of me at the polling place. So exciting to see Obama's name lit up.

oh, also voted for a bunch of strangers for school board because I didn't want my jerk neighbor to win so I cast votes against him. Is that wrong?

Drive up to Chicago. We'll let you vote again.

No, if he's a jerk, then why should he be on the school board.

No lines at all in my area of Mass--although the parking lots at the school complex were full--and traffic was held up about ten minutes. Filling out paper ballots is a snap compared to the old machines. Still, it looks like a huge turnout.

Voted against eliminating the state income tax. (What's wrong with me?)

LOL...."vote early and often"

tsearcher, I live in hard core republican territory, and some of the folks here don't forget. I asked one of my customers who they were pulling for in the major league playoffs, since his team didn't make it. He said "anybody but the Cubs or White Sox." He wouldn't elaborate, but his wife told me later is was because he was still pissed off about what "they (Chicago) did to Nxon in the 1960 election."

I'm not ashamed to say that I've cussed out octogenarians who have stolen my imminent BINGO wins from me. It's the reason why I can't play Bingo with my grandmother any more.

Did anyone watch SNL last night? Some of it was a riot but I did not really get the Sarah Palin speech. It did nothing for me.

My favorite two skits were the VP debate (Joe Biden putting down Scranton ) and the debate with Obama and McCain where Tom Brokaw kept saying "time!" and cutting them off.

Sidenote: I never realized people had to wait in line to vote. I always figured people didn't vote because they were huge lazy asses. I didn't realize sometimes people have to wait for over an hour.

When I voted in '04, I was in and out in less than 120 seconds. No line whatsoever. Of course, I'm not in a highly congested area either. But this is seriously the first I've heard about people waiting that long.
