That one is good.
Minetta tavern is best by far ainec. Shake shack, jg melon are two classic burgers that are similar in form to burger joint. Lugers supposedly has an awesome burger that's only available at lunch.

Goat town, resto, and burger and barrel are 3 restaurant burgers I've had recently that were good

Corner Bistro is a classic dive place as well with good burgers. Definitely one of my favorite late night places in the Village for food.

I am a big fan of Mahmoun's for felafel. There's the original on Macdougal and one on St. Marks btw 2nd and 3rd. It's like 2.50 for a felafel sandwich and it's awesome.

Snagged some last minute Book of Mormon tickets from a friend who can't make it. I won't get into the city until just after 6, and by the time we get over to pick up the tickets (only a couple blocks away) and to the theater, it's gonna be damn near showtime (7p). Any recommendations for a super-quick bite (e.g., falafel) in the unlikely case we have 15 minutes to spare?

there are a couple falafel spots on 9th avenue between 45-47th street , if you are getting in through port authority , leave through the 9th avenue exit and head up..

Thanks. Taking NJT into Penn Station, but picking up the tickets on 46th near 7th. 9th might be a bit out of the way in a time crunch, but yeah I sort of figured that'd be our best bet for quick eats.

Should probably just pick up something small for the train and then eat afterwards.

I think the Greenwich Village location is still open - people were still posting reviews on Yelp just a couple of days ago.

Nah, a friend had 2 but his lady-friend had to cancel for childcare reasons, so we picked them up for face. Seats were fantastic, orchestra right, couple seats from the aisle.

The show was amazing. I loved Avenue Q, but I honestly think this was far better. From a psuedo-intellectual standpoint (I know, it's almost shocking we're talking about this in the context of this play), the South Park guys are always just totally on point with their social commentary. They sort of show all sides of an issue, poke fun at the hardline views, and end with a hilariously awesome kumbaya moment that sort of makes everyone introspective.

And actually the musical numbers were phenomenal (my gf basically said afterwards "I'm trying to be objective and to remove the content, which is hard, but I think that actually is the best musical I've seen in years."

But really I was in tears most of the show. It was hilarious and wildly irreverent. I can't recommend this strongly enough. You just have to see it.

We split a dirty water dog before the theater, which actually was a great decision, because during intermission this drunk woman seated next to me started telling me about her tasting menu at Le Bernardin with the wine pairings and how they had reservations for 515 but how her special friend ****ed up the times and got to the theater at 730 for the 7pm show and what did they miss and all the courses were little but so delicious but i dont even remember what we had and did you eat before the show or after? And my gf looked at her and said "we were running late, so we grabbed a hot dog," at which point the woman was done with the conversation and went back to talking to her guy about where they should go for a drink after the show.

We went to Brickyard Pub (9th btwn 52 & 53) after the show. Had respectable burgers and a pretty nice beer list (including Founders IPA, which, as someone who lived in Michigan, warms my heart), tvs for the tourney games (gah my bracket is so boned), and it was all open air because it was gorgeous last night. If it weren't for the train ride home (and having to get up for work today), it would have been close to a perfect night.

Thanks for the TR man, I will def go see it now, I really liked Avenue Q , so if this heads and shoulders better, i am going. yeah, brickyard pub is cool (i rarely eat or hang out on the west side, but scruffy duffy's always had a warm place in my heart,. they used to have kick ass wings . glad to hear it was a fun night.

So we are thinking about getting a pied a terre. Just a decent studio or a small 1BR ("junior 1" is totally fine). We just want to be in the city pretty much every weekend, and if we do the hotel thing, it just won't happen. We definitely want to be in Manhattan. We want space for a Queen, a living area (that's not our bed) and some semblance of a kitchen. Any idea how cheap we can do this? Is $1200 doable? I'm seeing a few things around 15-16 on renthop, but that's really pushing how much we want to spend. We both work in Princeton and it would just be insane to pay the extra 3% city tax (we do ok so this is substantial) + the money and time to commute.

Any idea how best to do this?

We'll pony up that much if we have to, but since we'll be in NJ 4 nights a week, I want to try to maximize the $ we have to spend here.

the cheapest neighborhoods in manhattan are inwood , or the middle of harlem, chinatown too, but you need to have some connections , and most people cant handle the different vibes of those neighborhoods.

what is surprising to me , is that there are no websites that really match up people that need an apartment for certain days of the week, because the city is empty (relatively) on weekends, with many people leaving it during the weekend (especially in the summer) . there should be a service where you can time share apartments within the city.. ,

in terms of neighborhoods in the city,, uws and ues are two neighborhoods that there will be apts open for around 2k, if you would be willing to live in between 96th and 110th street , you would def find it.

Anything interesting coming up soon? I live in DC and am overdue for an NYC visit.

Also, I plan on job hunting somewhat soon. Anyone here have a tech job that offers tuition reimbursement? I'd like to do an MBA but do not want to go $100k out of pocket myself. I work with all kinds of digital products: mobile app and mobile web development, , general product development, search engine optimization, search marketing, etc. Not looking for a development job, but rather more of director of product management type gig.

Sick brag!

I saw this a few weeks back, possibly the funniest musical I've ever seen, worth the obscene scalpers' pricing.

Zero chance of getting BoM tickets at tkts now, I'd be surprised if you'll be able to find discount tickets before mid-late 2013, maybe much later. Just buy them now at any price, because:

100% agreed. I really wanted to see it with the original cast, and am glad I did, but this will be a great show with anyone (though Josh Gad will be a tough act to follow).

Tickets are cheaper on Stubhub than face for alot of weeknight shows.

I looked on Stubhub, and even for a Thursday in mid-February that wasn't the case. There was nothing less than $200 (no non-premium ticket has a face >= $200), with most tickets over $300 and a quick look shows that still to be the case, with the exception of the very rare mezzanine seat (usually back/corner).

To those looking for tickets, keep in mind that BoM plays in a comparatively small theater; pretty much any seat is going to be OK.

If it is possible to get them for below face, though, I will see the show again when I'm back in NY in May.

I would think your best bet for below face is to buy hours before the show begins. When you place tix on SH, you can have an automatic setting that reduces the price as the show approaches.

Things To See/Places To Go:

*WTC Memorial

*Canal St. (knock offs, and much much more)

*Little Italy

*Carmines (Theater District) - (Excellent Italian Food/Portions, mixed with a chill atmosphere)

*Visit Galfolds Old Slide

*FAO Schwarz (Used to be like a cooler Toy Store that stomped on Toys 'R' Us with more to offer, hope it's still the same)

*See a Broadway play (Phantom, SpiderMan, Producers)

*Try to get lucky and get on Cash Cab.

*Statue of Liberty is meh, with the ride to it and what not but If you haven't been, you should go.

*See Times Square/See a Nicks Game/See a Mets/Yanks Game and eat a NY hotdog.

-Sorry If I derailed you're show convo, apologies.
