Growing up I had such a romantic view of California - it was like the promised land.

All the movies, tv and ads showed it like endless sunny beaches, sunsets, palms, convertibles and extremely hot women in bikinis.

Took me quite few years to listen and understand the lyrics of this song beyond the 'it never rains in Southern California'-part.

I'm from western Norway where we've got cold rain or snow 7-8+ months a year (and rain for most of the warmer months too) so California was basically like the land of Oz for someone who loved the sea and beach (and hot girls in bikinis)

Traveled quite a bit since then but never made it to the US, let alone California, but still have it on my bucket list.
