Also, if someone wanted to show me and two other normal guys around for a day or an afternoon or something, I'd gladly take them out to dinner or give them an hour of poker lessons or something...

Post-black Friday, what have US expats in BA been doing to get their money from poker site to US bank? Can you just withdraw into a BA bank and then wire it to the US?

No one has Argentine Bank Accounts here. Well, a few do, but wiring money here isn't easy. This isn't a normal country.

yeah, you get an Uruguayan bank acct for that

Is that relatively easy to set up? And is it safe to get your money back to your US bank from PokerStars? Do you go Stars>echeck to Uruguayan bank>wire to US bank?

The banking system is a big reason I haven't considered BA more seriously for relocation. Is it not really anything to worry about, since you can outsource it to Uruguay?

I mean, not many people have an Uruguayan bank account either.

So can someone explain the banking process poker site --> bank account --> USD bank account? Feel free to PM.

Also, still looking to meet some of you guys for a dinner or partying or whatever...

I found it... but it seems that the neteller option is iffy at best. Let's say I got moneybookers, and changed the address on the poker account. I could easily open an Argentinian bank account, and then cashout to moneybookers and have that money x-ferred to the Argentinian bank account. Then how exactly do I get it out of there?

(sorry for the noob questions, this is all new to me as I always just used the FTP wire service)

I don't know if you read all of my post or the right one. Try again. It is from the last few weeks and is a bit long. There are some other posts about opening a bank account a few different places in the thread but specific info depends on the bank. It ain't all that easy.

The avenues you are heading down aren't going to get you anywhere.

I think you believe that all countries are like the US until proven guilty. Argentina does not allow wiring money around to be easy. Argentina does not allow setting up a bank account to be easy. Argentina charges you a ton of money to have an account here. The Argentine banking system isn't exactly the best run.

This is what I'm trying to say when I say "no one has an account here". Most of these countries (even Uruguay) are very grey area when it comes to banking and what you can do. The system is complex and not set up for fly-by-night poker players.

Open a swiss bank account imo. I was pissing around googling them a few months ago and pretty sure I found some that simply required 10k to open, they dont care who you are, and give you a debit/credit card for them.

Would that work?

PS i know nothing about international banking, but having a swiss bank account sounds baller.

Is click2pay an option for US citizens? I use it when I can use Neteller and it works OK.

I'd love to come (with two friends) to a dinner this weekend on Friday night... I'm arriving Thursday morning and staying in Palermo! So excited.

if anyone in this thread PERSONALLY knows anything current/recent (post-BF) regarding bank accounts in uruguay please let me know via PM . there's an lapt in PDE on august 3-7 which is right after my lease runs out in the USA and when i'd be looking to move to play poker. i'd probably be looking to establish residence somewhere else (maybe even BA?!?), just need a non-US bank account in order for Stars to reopen my account and uruguay seemed like a viable option based on what i read online for a stable place in LA to process transactions

Uruguay is definitely where youd be doing most of your banking.

So people are really expecting to open a Uruguayan bank account without proof of employment, on a tourist visa, with a Buenos Aires address and then be able to wire money to it from their pokerstars account? Pretty funny. But please someone prove me wrong. I'm super screwed right now.

Here's an idea

Ask Pokerstars if they would do it. Then do some internet searching, get a list of banks in Uruguay. Call them, see what they require to open a bank account. Ask them if they will accept transfers from Pokerstars, moneybookers or whatever you plan on using. Report back here.

Chairman, that's way more work than your avg poker player would even think of doing.

I sometimes think of offering an expensive concierge service for poker players. I'd hire Argentines, and my training would be to have them read this thread. If they wanted extras like help with a Uruguayan account, they'd pay extra.
