Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3 Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Daniel Craig edition.

I watched the Swedish one not too long after it came out and I had a lot of trouble following the plot. This one seemed much more clear to me. Partially because I had some idea of what was going on but I think this version spelled it out a lot better.

Fantastic movie.

Not sure which ending I like the best.

I saw both I remember one being very good the other being ok but kindv some and boring.
I saw them once a few years ago so there is a good chance I have the two titles confused and meant letters instead of flags.

but even if he never directed another film besides unforgiven he would still make my list of fav directors.
I can't even put into words how much I love unforgiven.

Like, I'm old (almost 47) so take this fwiw; it's not that we all agree but we don't even fight in this thread generally. We don't talk like that. That's the way I feel about it anyway. And we don't talk about how we behave either, until now, unfortunately.

Movies, like a lot of art, is sometimes hit or miss. All of those directors have had masterpieces and all have had average movies.
12-04-2014 , 11:53 PM
Sorry, that's not trolling. I'm making a point that RBK probably doesn't actually know anything about filmmaking (neither do I) and that him talking about unspecified stuff that makes The Game a better directed movie than Jaws is probably pure horse**** that is just him saying that he likes one movie more than another, but not actually wanting to stake out that position. It's mealy-mouthed nonsense.
12-04-2014 , 11:56 PM
I'm guessing most of you have seen the documentary on the making of Jaws. Seemed like a lot of it happened by accident. Although that sort of minimizes Spielberg's ability to make a great movie when all does not go well.

Jaws is in my top 5 favorite movies easily. I can watch it over and over and over and......

Most of SK's trolling I know from OOTV and Politics Unchained, not this thread. That is just what he does for fun, pure and simple.

Casting of that movie was so great. Really wish they made a second one.

But, OK, this is the lounge, and you guys don't make those sorts of borderline posts. It's a cordial environment!

Except when kiosk calls me a troll simply for saying I didn't care for TWWB?

Letters from Iwo Jima was the one in Japanese.

As for Jaws, if we send another Voyager Spacecraft out with a golden DVD it should have every scene with this guy on it.

I've only seen the Swedish Dragon Tattoo, it was pretty good. Liked the book too, that probably helped following the plot.

American one is great.

Rooney Mara (w/Daniel Craig) Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is way better imo.

Rooney is great. And speaking of Rooney, I really feel like Ain't Them Bodies Saints was overlooked. Did y'all see that one?

And speaking of Ain't Them Bodies Saints, I watched Good Will Hunting for the first time since it's release last night and noticed Casey Affleck already acting circles around his brother.

Yeah...good, but disappointing. Had potential to be great with better direction. A little like Malick karaoke.

Cecil DeMille?
12-05-2014 , 12:18 AM
Yeah, I never really thought much about David Fincher, just saw some of his movies.

Girl w/Dragon T - very good
Curious Case of Button - pretty bad
Zodiac - very good, maybe great
Panic Room - meh
Fight Club - good and bad, but mostly good
The Game - good, maybe very good
Seven - sometimes great, sometimes not good, so just good
Alien 3 - I've seen a bit of it, looked pretty horrible
12-05-2014 , 12:21 AM
I loved alien 3, never understood why people disliked it

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. $10,000 for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.*

A bit of a racist, Griffith, but that was much more fashionable in those days.

Yeah,I didn't like Spielberg's Schindler's List and was railed hard by RBK.

Figure that one out.

If you come into a thread filled with film buffs and post "x [hugely respected and universally adored] film sucks" with no context or explanation you should expect this result.

This thread serves no purpose if it's simply a list of films one likes. Who cares about personal taste. The threads value is in discussimg the forum and using it as a platform to develop ones thoughts on a specific film.

This is why SK is a pure troll he NEVER backs up his hyperbolic flamethrower opinions with any details or rationale.

The lists are good for recommendations.
