Exactly.

Snatch is pretty much perfect. The comedy is fantastic. No jokes. Just great lines. Whenever you are wondering if that screenplay you wrote can get made, just watch this and realize you could never write this stuff. It's awesome.

Then, of course, the direction and production. Think of the rabbit hunt scene. It's marvelous. Same with the Desert Eagle scene. The fight scene at the camp.

Then watch what happens when someone tries to copy it. See the abysmal Smokin' Aces. ugh.

I think Snatch will age very well.

Yeah, she's damn near perfect to me.

And the movie itself was damn good.

Glad to see some love for In a World. That movie is pretty damn good. Very funny with some heartfelt moments.

Need for Speed - It's exactly the movie it needs to be. A majority of the stunts appear to be practical stunts, that gets big points from me. It bugs the **** out of me that with each F&F CGI runs rampant. Can't say a heck of a lot about the performances or the lolscript but the action makes up for its shortcomings. I would have liked a better villain though.

Drag Me to Hell

It was OK. I'm not sure why it got such positive reviews it's very predictable but it's fast and full of energy. It's not funny often enough to be a good comedy horror and is too reliant on jump scares and gore for a straight horror. The CGI is also distractingly bad.
It entertained me for an hour and a half but was instantly forgettable.

If a horror movie can keep you entertained for 90 minutes than that is why it got such positive reviews.

Wild Hogs was on last night. I didn't watch it as I was unfortunate to see it once but it got me thinking. The cast is pretty good (Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H Macy, Ray Liotta) while the movie is absolutely terrible. What other movies have good casts yet are so bad?

Also I'm not a fan of The Blues Brothers. It just doesn't do it for me.

This lol I love that movie. It's all about Raimi getting back to his genre roots.

Has anyone seen Under the Skin? Hopefully I'll have time to go this week.

88% on RT, it stars Scarlett Johansson as a seductive alien (including nude scenes!) - it's surely guaranteed to be a 2p2 favourite.

subbed.

Owning Mahowney is an underrated film by Philip Seymour Hoffman. About a guy who gambles tons of his company's money in AC.

Never heard of this...is it new??

Whoa that looks great

Yeah, Under The Skin is coming out I think next month, at least that's what imdb says.

Wild Hogs is bad i guess. But i dont know, there is something there. Underneath all that bad acting, stale jokes and ridiculous script there is some sort of entertainment. Its basically a kids movie. And if you look at it like that its a ridiculous kids movie thats still fun to watch. Besides, every kids movie is ridiculous.

Under The Skin

Trippiest film I've seen in a while. We have Scarlett Johansson driving around Glasgow in a van, mingling with local Glaswegians and wondering around desolate terrain; all interspersed with set-pieces of Lynch-esque surrealism. I think I enjoyed it, although it didn't help that there was a drunk lady in the theatre who kept shouting "pretentious arthouse Guardian tossers" at everyone.

Trailer certainly looks Kubricky. At :20 I thought that was HAL.

I never saw them, but isn't maybe Ocean's >11 a lock for best cast in the worst movie?

No, 12 is goofy meta insanity and it's great. 13 isn't very good, back to a more straight-up heist movie just not executed as well as the first one. It's still not awful though, definitely not a candidate for best cast in worst movie and worth watching once if you like the genre. The Rat Pack Ocean's 11 is worse than all 3 of the newer ones.

But in true Herzog fashion there has to be a twist - and in this case he makes an anti-death penalty movie while focusing on one case where even I wasn't sure this guy should be spared. Picking some likable dude who might be innocent would have been too easy.

The film really delves into the victim's families and the families of the perpetrators. All the interview subjects seemed to be living in a world of pain, even before the murders occurred. Just about all the people in front of the camera have been in trouble with the law for something. They interview the father of the guy who got life in prison for this crime instead of the death penalty: an interview that takes place in another prison. This family had Thanksgiving dinner one year in the prison between the incarcerated father and two sons. There is a cycle of poverty and crime very evident here.

The most powerful interviews for me were of the prison Chaplain and the guard who helps strap the inmates onto the gurney and wheel them into the room. Both men have seen way too much death in their time and the stress on their souls is palpable. Very touching interviews with them both.

I have a hope that pro-death penalty people would watch this film and take it to heart. At least be a little conflicted about it, as I admit I was while watching it from an anti-death penalty mind set. Because if the death penalty does exist, then it exists to kill exactly people like this guy. I recognize that. But in the end, nobody has the right to take a life.

7/10
TY! Both added to queue.

A little gem called "The Godfather III" might win here.

Smokin' Aces abysmal is a little strong, I have to say I liked it a lot but it wasn't shot in any way shape or form to be like Snatch.

Smokin' Aces 2 now that was crappy but the first one was good, plus its the only movie were Ryan Reynolds played a serious character and he wasn't extremely annoying or unnecessary the entire time.

Watched Inside Llewyn Davis yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Fantastic music and great job of capturing a particular scene/moment in NYC history.

It was an absolute crime that Oscar Issac was not even nominated for Best Actor... he's in every scene of the movie and is fantastic. Also, the main song used in the film ("Fare thee well") was prob. the best movie song of the year (although not original so ineligible for a nomination).

The one part I could have done without was the road trip segment with John Goodman. The Coen brothers seem to love placing JG in all their films, in some sort of over-the-top small part. I love Goodman as an actor but his scenes didn't really add anything to the movie, it was sort of a weird sidetrack mid-film... then Llewyn gets to Chicago and the regular story picks back up again.

Worth it just for Isaac's performance and the awesome cinematography/music, though.
