Fish, no need to apologize. My choice of words there wasn't meant as anything except rhetoric, and I know you are a fair-minded person who has always treated me fairly here.

I'll bet that mustache tickles. My wife likes me with a beard but complains if I let it grow out beyond a shadow.

Really, it might be next summer or the summer after that before she goes to the UK, so I still have a chance at getting a novel published and becoming independently wealthy before this is even an issue.

His Majesty the Fifth Dragon King is at school today. Fittin' to go have some tea with him in five minutes. He's tall and well spoken, but I thought he'd be more dragon-y.

RIP Patricia Neal. If only for personal favorites Hud and The Homecoming. Great actress.

lol Why is one more influential than the other? I'd think common sense says it's the opposite, since them dang kids are growin up all funny these days.

Thanks for the links Busto. Interesting stuff. Still, do Italians learn about WWII as if it were a necessary and bold move on their part or something?
The Germans are very aware of what Hitler did. The Nazi party is illegal there. I would hard-pressed to believe Mousellini is looked apon as a hero in Italy. Despite being in the middle of Rome, the Vatican is frowned apon by most Italians, however, free speech is stymied there, so I wouldn't put it past the government to make the Axis out as heroes, though it is unlikely that they will admit to anti-semitetic reasoning.

Agreed with both points. The way history has been rewritten is crazy at times. Some of the stuff I've learned and read about recently has truly pissed me off because some of it is so warped it veers on malicious. Then you learn of bizzarre philosophies of history (progressivism, historianism, revisionism, et. al), and you really just figure you been lied to your whole life.

Research for a start. Sometimes digging for the truth takes about 20 hours of reading a bunch of contradictions, then you have to put a hodge-podge of information into a cogent paragraph, all while under a deadline. fwiw, I don't work under deadlines, which has its plus and minus.

I don't have an emoticon expressive enough to tell you this is laughable. Neo-Communists are the worst revisionists of them all. The best you can do is read the original stuff, or what you can find of it.

Dave,

You're misunderstanding "revisionism." Or at least you've fallen for the popular misconception of what revisionism entails for a good historian. For example, James MacPherson would describe himself as a revisionist. This brief notice on new research about Agincourt is another example of revisionist history.

Also, Chomsky and Zinn are hardly neo-Communists although I would agree they use a Marxist approach to history.
