Yeah be careful Dom I am (was?) not a Rolex guy at all. I walked into the shop to try on a Panerai.

Agreed my picture sucks

Damn, that RL is the business. Expected retail at $35k is cheaper than I expected.

how much is that Rolex, if you don't mind me asking?

And now I'm about to buy my third watch in a month...looking at a Halios Blue Ring.

Retail is $8200. I showed the AD Joma's $7400 offer and they came down to $7700.

What's the difference between a 'normal' Omega Seamaster 300 and the James Bond Spectre one (other than a Nato strap)? Just trying to work out why there is such a difference in price.

The Spectre one can be used as an explosive device.

Could have gotten an Orient Bambino for $20 yesterday in Amazon lightning deal, but we all missed it.

Thinking of picking up a beater watch with some Christmas money. Any of y'all like the Seiko diver watches?

I've always been intrigued by the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. While I have a somewhat good opinion of the Sekio 5 series dive watches, I feel like this "mod" is kind of like buying a Chrysler 500 and calling it "almost a Bentley".

Thoughts?

Nice, I asked a few pages back if anyone had any thought on this but no one replied. I'd love to have your feedback in a couple weeks, see if you still love it.

Okay so I've been very smitten with the Omega Seamster that is used in the latest James bond film but at £6k it's outwith what I could justifiably pay for a watch. £1k is my self-imposed limit.

Recently I'd been thinking about buying this watch (Hamilton Titanium Field Khaki), mainly for work but maybe for a bit of variety when I'm on days/nights out as well:

But I'm now thinking I would like something with the NATO strap that is used on the Omega above so I'm looking for opinions on what would look best with one. So the options I have at the moment are the Hamilton above

The following Hamiltons:

Khaki field

Khaki field King auto

Pilot Pioneer auto chrono (think this one may be too similar to my Stienhart Nav B Chrono)

Stenihart Ocean 1 (quite a few people seem to switched from the standard metal strap to a nato one for this watch)

Opinions folks?

I'm about 3 days in, it's awesome so far. Looks great and I get many compliments and a lot of "what is that?" type questions. There are tons of watch faces available to download, even classic Rolex and omega etc ones. Can match to any outfit because it's easy to change the straps and the face.

Also very cool to get the notifications, especially when paired with my Bluetooth headset. When I get a call I just glance at the watch to see who is calling and can answer and talk right through my Bluetooth. Also good for texts, I can read the full message and decide if I want to respond immediately and do so though the watch using voice to text, or you can use pre set quick responses. One of my favorites is drawing emojis on the watch face and it recognizes which one you want.

There are apps with full keyboard as well but so far it's everything I coulda wanted. Battery easily lasts me 15+ hours so I don't have to sweat charging it.

Strap that is comes with (went with the 46mm brown leather) is average to slightly above average quality. Lots of replacement straps available even nato.

Moto 360 2nd gen $349.99 at Verizon but I work there so I got 35% off

I have the titanium khaki, and love it. My only minor complaint is due to my lack of research in that titanium scratches easily so the black pvd coating may get removed in small areas and display a metallic color.

You should be able to see it on the top left of the lug on the edge.

It's very minor and only noticeable to me I believe but may be a deal breaker for some.

That's the only spot I have noticed on my watch and it's been a fairly consistent beater for me for the last 10 months or so.

Hey guys, looking to splash a bit on a watch even though I'm fairly new to the watchgame Got about 20k$ budget and been looking at something along these lines:

http://www.jomashop.com/patek-philip...5196j-001.html

Anything in particular i need to take into consideration when buying my first expensive watch? Could this be a bit overkill first time out as I prob won't apreciate as much as an avid watchenthusiast? I'm leaning towards swinging for the fences. Just checking in if theres any reason not to tbh. Also very much open for other ideas. Cheers.

How did you come across that watch? Not that there's anything wrong with it. I'd just suggest that with a purchase of that size you take your time, maybe read back in this thread a bit, maybe hang around for a while and then when you find one you really love make the buy. Or if this one already is one you really love, then go right ahead and get it now. You also have to consider where to get it. I wouldn't buy a Patek at jomashop. Not that jomashop isn't trustworthy to give you what you ordered. I would just want a manufacturers warranty with a watch of that caliber. Other options are new from an authorized dealer or used, either through a used watch dealer such as Crown & Caliber or from a private party through a forum such as watchuseek. I would also think about if you want the one watch for $20k, or if you'd prefer some variety. You could get three watches for $20k. Maybe not a Patek, but say a Jaeger-LeCoultre, Rolex and Omega.

Give me 20k and i'm buying 9 or 10 really great watches.

But yeah...consider what Gaddy said...2 or 3 incredible watches can be had for that price.

For $20K I'd scrape up a few more G's and get a Ressence Type 3.

Based on the Patek you posted I'd imagine that is not your thing at all, but this post is more about me
