Nice looking watch. Reminds me of my Oris, which was my first automatic watch.

every single special edition that has to do with any person, sport, or thing, is just terrible. All the APs with their random branding, who the hell wants that on a watch? Hublot is even worse. I sometimes wonder if they are making those watches in batches of 8 just to sell to that specific sailing, soccer, whatever team.

for the longest time an AP RO Chrono was on my must have list but due to all these special editions i'm done with the brand.. I've come ridiculously close to pulling the trigger on one too.

I mean it serves a lot of purposes for AP/Hublot/Omega/etc.. it creates yet another "scarce" model with the potential to appreciate in value.. you get some easy media coverage around the brand due to the whoever/whatever you're making an edition for. you also add another celebrity wearing your brand.. I'm sure for every celeb/athlete there's a small group of monied superfan who will buy the edition.

i can see why they do it ($$$, free press, etc) and it'll appeal to a certain group of people, certainly not us though..

I tried on a RO chrono about a month ago and was very underwhelmed, by it.

Legibility was poor, dial looked squished and congested, it wore very thick, the date looks like its buried beneath the glass as its not even an integrated chrono movement.

I mean, i get its AP, but i think you could do better for the $, i would rather pull the Dubois-Depraz module off and just have a 3 hander with the 3120 movement.

You have the option of the ROO diver, probably the only ROO I like.

zenith watches go for huge discounts as well on the forums, tons of value when you buy second hand.

So what am I missing with this ebay listing? I've been fiending for that Hamilton Navy Pioneer thebighurt mentioned, and have been keeping my eye out for a good deal. It seems that in good condition it's going for around 550, so did I just miss out on a great deal, or is something awry?

I swear I saw this without a buy it now option, so I'm kicking myself for either missing it or not checking up on the listing more often.
