At like 0:30 in the video you can see it from the side and it looks pretty lined up to me.

I think it's a bit trivial either way, given the design of the watch, but I doubt the video/pictures do it justice. Agreed that it depends on viewing angle though, surely it's not going to look "lined up" 100% of the time anyway? Someone go drop $200k on one so we can have some real-world shots!

<100$, comfortable, good looking sports watch i can get wet, wear at the hospital but also out everyday that doesn't look like a plastic piece of crap.. and I can do a chrono on?

"wear at the hospital" meaning you're doing what? administrative stuff or like touching patients and getting blood all over you?

You probably want something plastic if you're going to have fluids spraying all over the place just for ease of keeping it clean and not stinky. You definitely want to avoid anything with leather/canvas/nylon straps.

Is a steel watch with a rubber strap going to "look like a plastic piece of crap" to you?

http://www.watchzworld.com/seiko-chr...ph-snn203.html

A steel band is going to be really tough to find in this price range, especially new, and if you do find one then you're looking at something with ****ty folded links.

I've seen Tissot PRC 200 chronos go used for around $100. That's a pretty nice watch though I doubt you can find one on a bracelet for less than $200.

EG: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/sol...tz-703980.html

you could put a rubber strap on that and it would look pretty good IMO. Or maybe something like the maratac composite straps. The PRC is pretty common and they pop up on the for sale forums pretty regularly.

Hey man - thanks for the reply.

In clarification and answer to your questions - my last watch was a 30 dollar walmart timex ironman. It wasn't something I could really wear everyday without feeling a little childish.

In terms of the hospital - I will be seeing patients in the ER, so yes, blood, fluid, guts are all possible. No, I will not be taking it off when this happens (yes I will be cleaning it in between patients when it gets dirty).

These watches - am I gonna be able to wear it everywhere? I'd be worried about scratching or permanently ruining it on a day-to-day basis. It needs to be worry free really.

Both of those watches look dead sexy to me. The maratac strap is also entirely acceptable imo

Tissot PRC 200 looks much nicer with a white dial imo, hadn't seen that before.

Not sure about bracelet quality like pvn said but I've read Seiko are usually pretty decent even on the lower priced watches:

http://www.creationwatches.com/produ...atch-3124.html

Edit: Reading your reply above, I wouldn't go for a bracelet because cleaning it regularly/quickly to the standard you'd need is pretty unlikely. Same for fabric surely. Rubber is probably the best best. (Sorry was replying when you did and it didn't refresh til after)

Good deal on maractac straps here (dunno about shipping):

Silly bands are a hugely successful marketing story too, but that won't make me like them.

I don't think he was suggesting you should like them.

Answers to the above if possible? What's the best place to try some Seiko's on?

you can't find any of the good seikos (in that price range, at least) in the US.

There are one or two authorized Grand Seiko dealers in the US now but I don't think anyone outside of japan and maybe hong kong gets the SARBxxx series or other JDM models (Japanese Domestic Market).

Compared to what? I mean, they're steel, with mechanical movements.

You can scratch them. You WILL scratch them, that's how they develop character. They are somewhat sensitive to shock and vibration and magnetism, but this sensitivity is usually overhyped. I wouldn't go rock-climbing wearing one, but I think that pretty much goes for any mechanical watch, seikos are any more delicate than any other mechanical watch (and may be more durable, in fact). I'd also avoid activities such as golf or tennis where there would be sudden, sharp jolts, but lots of people wear mechanical watches while doing this stuff (cf. Rafa Nadal and his bajillion-dollar Richard Mille).

pvn, hes looking at sub $100 Chronos, not sure why you switched the subject to SARBs, which are way out of his budget.

tcc1, just look for a seiko quartz chrono like on of the ones posted earlier and spend a bit extra and get an aftermarket strap for work if you don't want to scratch the bracelet.

Considerations: I have a small wrist. 6 1/4" or 160mm circumference.

actually I got it here, 50% off.

Was a little torn between black face and white face. Black face=$230, White face=$300. So I guess that settled it.

I think my next watch will be a jazzmaster. I really liked the style of those as well.

Different vendors offering different levels of discount. MSRP is 295 vs. 270 for those two, so much closer.
