Be honest, guys. Would I be a total scumbag douche if I buy this?

I just cringe at the thought of the conversation:

'oh wow, lovely pam'
'actually its not a pam, its a homage'
'ohhhh..... ok'

I don't have a problem with homages. The issue is that Parnis uses the "Marina Militare" wording which they stole from Pan and might make it more of a replica than an homage. I guess that is the point of my post. If it's simply an homage I wouldn't feel at all like a douche for buying it, but if it is basically a fake Pan, that would be a lot worse.

I agree with that, it is still technically a homage though but it's trying to be so exact that it looks more like a replica.

I have no problems with loads of watches that take inspiration from other brands but usually you can easily tell the difference.

The issue I have with those Panerai homages is the subpar 50m water resistance.

Makes the crownguard completely aesthetic and non functional.

The crownguards on the real PAMs are completely aesthetic and non functional.

hmm really? I always thought that was PAM's way of not doing screw down crowns.

Yes, but the screw down crown doesn't make a watch water resistant. It just keeps you from opening the crown and ruining whatever WR the watch otherwise has.

Ennebi Fondale, for example, has 1000m WR but the crown has no screw-down or other retaining device.

oh, interesting. well in any case, I always liked the no badge radiomir homages over the luminor homages.

WUS will not allow a pic of that dial on the site. Thus 'Scooby Doo' watch as they're known there.

Tells how many hours are left before the watch dies/needs to be rewound.

I think it would be nice without the red highlights, and yes, overpriced.

In general I like the base look of that series but ya they're overpriced and that specific one not really my cup of tea, the red highlights and it's huge. I think the 42-tide in Stainless would be my pick of that series so different taste. Just realized they make them all lefty?

Think the finish will be neat though.

Do you guys with nice watches wear them to the poker table? As in Vegas, specifically? I have a few nice watches but often feel out of place wearing them at the tables. If I'm going to be grinding for 10 hours, I leave my Omega at home and put on my Seiko automatic diver instead.

thoughts?

okay, since I bought the Halios, I'm going to get rid of my Tissot:

I paid $240 for it on eBay a few months ago, brand new...anyone want to take it off my hands for $150? I'll ship it to you.

It's in perfect shape.
