The Hamilton you posted is expensive because its a mechanical Chronograph. The Tissot you posted is 1/3 the price because its a quartz chronograph.

The Jazzmaster Tsao posted is less expensive because while its mechanical, its a 3 hander and not a chronograph.

So you're going to have to decide what is important to you.

I think if you are ok with a more casual military influenced type of watch and you want a mechanical movement, the hamilton khaki line is decent.
Be sure to note what it says next to Movement :

I think if you really really want a mechanical chronograph, you should look at something like this

http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-T024427...354716&sr=1-13

same movement as the hamilton jazzmaster chrono you were looking at. and much better value than $550 for a quartz chrono IMO.

or even this older model hamilton jazzmaster chrono

http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-H3261...354880&sr=1-17

Though I would just check out the used market and try to get a valjoux 7750 based mechanical chrono for under $500 though.

Solid suggestions but I think I found the one through your Amazon links.. Hamilton H32612735 Jazzmaster

Amazon has it at $705 but I found it at $545 on authenticwatches.com. Anyone have any experience buying from this site?

Edit: Also found a similar deal at Watches-Swiss.com but after finding this review of the site online I'd warn everyone to stay away

I've bought from authenticwatches.com before. They're a legit gray market dealer. (Oxymoron?) The only issue I've had with them is that they don't always update their stock online, so I've been told after I ordered that they don't have the watch I wanted. They refunded my money of course.

Again, nothing wrong with quartz but just wanted to make sure you realized that one is quartz.

Grats, and does your username stand for Maynard James Keenan? If so, you have good taste in both watches and music.

Thanks. I think it is priced pretty reasonably at about $400. The strap was $100 ish.

the middle one's a quartz but was a bday gift 2 yrs ago and been wearing it almost everyday since. kinda looks like one of the breitlings posted a while back.

Very different styling, just the fact the subdials and date window are in the same place.

Rolex question if anyone can help:

I'm looking at a potential watch but it has a bit of a story regarding the serial number of it.

It was originally a K seriel and has the original cert etc with that on it.

The story goes it was damaged in an accident and went to rolex and got fitted with a new case, crystal, dial and hands etc.

The paperwork on this is a 4.7 serial, it has been back to rolex since for a service and has the 4.7 serial on the paperwork again.

Is this standard when a case gets changed or is their something fishy going on?

It's a good price and I have it ohpf, but want to get this confirmed before I send. Might try and phone rolex UK and see what they say, hope they are opened on a sunday!

I know, that blue model is really nice. The hour-jump is so sick on these models.

(Jump happens around 18sec in)

I'm warming up to the Capeland a lot more since I've put it on a zulu.

It looks strangely right on the OD green.

Happy to hear it.. I can't do the zulu thing, always feels to awkward for me looping it back around and all that jazz at the end. When I have had them on I've worn them non standard with a simple single loop through where a typical strap would be.

But the important thing is - the Capeland is getting love!

That looks great, especially for that price. I can imagine how awesome it can become with patina on the bronze.

But the pre-order link on the website doesn't work for me? I wonder if it is sold out
