you just have to (and im literally doing this right now) weigh the fact that jomashop is grey market, and they only offer their own 2 year warranty. there is no manufacturer warranty or the option (at least i dont think) to purchase an extended one through joma. imo if you can get 30% off an authorized dealer it's worth it for the manufacturer as well as AD warranty to pay the extra couple hundred bucks. also going to store and getting it > getting a package in the mail heh. i'm going to torneau on wed or thurs and most likely getting a $5800 breitling montbrillant datora for right around 4k and hopefully not pay tax. my friend is also probably getting one and it's a store not in a big city so they came up to 30%.

Looks like a replica to me...

Why? I've been comparing it with mine (same with white dial). The only thing that really bothers me is the triangle at the top of the dial doesn't appear to be properly centered. There's almost no way that flaw would be found on a genuine breitling, but it could somehow be the picture. Am I missing anything? Possibly the watch is not 'polished' enough, but again it's hard to tell from the picture. This watch is supposed to be ridiculously shiny. ¨Probably #1 reason mine gets me so many comments and questions.

where the chronomat is located is where it goes to when you stop and reset it (almost the 3rd minute mark). also i thought the indicators had a very clear "black" line/space between the two 'pieces' of the indicator. on this watch it's basically just a clear line and is definitely not black.

fwiw the kid got it from the same guy who definitely tried selling me and my other friend fake watches. i don't want to get too into it but i knew/felt right away they were fake. i was in torneau the day before for an hour studying and looking at a navitimer and it just was not the same watch. that alone makes me believe this is definitely a fake, however, like i said in earlier posts, the jeweler showed us a couple breitlings in his shop that definitely felt and looked real so i guess there is a slight chance this one might be. he's going to a breitling AD in his area to get it checked out but i was hoping you guys would know for sure just bc he was here earlier.

haha, that's pretty bad about the chrono. yes the indicators are supposed to have a clear space between the 2 pieces. i actually noticed that and then forgot to bring it up. mine has the white dial so it's easy to see that there's a white spacing. i figure it would be somewhat less obvious on the non-white versions, but yeah the picture makes it appear as you say

The key lies on the dial. The batons on a genuine super avenger are spaced apart, made from separate pieces of metal. On replicas, they are made of one piece with an indent in the middle.

been a year since i first discovered this thread. this thread was also the first time i really became exposed to nice non-rolex watches.

in that year i've been to Wempe and Tourneau quite a bit here in new york and looked at/tried on the watches over and over again. i haven't bought anything yet. but it's funny how i've gone from falling in love with several watches last year when i knew little - a couple of the Hamiltons shown in this thread, a Baume & Mercier watch that i thought was the "one", and an Oris or two - to now finding them boring and not as quality looking (whatever that means) as some of the watches made by Jaeger LeCoultre, IWC, Glashutte, and even Wempe. heck the IWC Portugese that everyone loves and that i loved when i first saw it a year ago doesn't quite dazzle as much now that i've been exposed to so many watches. i still like it though but just not creaming-my-shorts like it.

i'm glad i waited before plunking down $3k-$5k on the first watch that caught my interest. even though i am still watchless i feel that now when i finally do buy one it will really will be something special because i've feel like i've seen and tried on every watch in new york.

anyways, keep the pics coming because it really opens my eyes to what's out there and what to look for when i go to stores.

edit: surprised to see it's 44mm. for some reason it felt smaller when i tried it on.

That many complications on a brand name like that, plus pretty limited numbers make for a hefty price tag. You can get em for much less than 20 if you dig/get lucky though.

You'd probably dig the JLC Master Calendars (which you've probably also run across), similar look but without all the complications and a fraction of the cost.

You should just buy some used pieces to get a feel for what you really do like. If you buy privately through forums you can get pretty much all of your money back out when you're ready to flip up to something nicer.

.
i've found that this continues even as you buy watches.. most of the pieces i've had the longest no longer smile at me like they used to..

i wore my panerai for the first time in probably 3+ months today.. i used to *love* that thing.. i have 20+ straps for all sorts of occasions.. now it's closer to a watch of last resort when i need something that works with my outfit when my favorites won't work.

I don't think so. I have a bunch on my cell phone, but none hosted anywhere. If I get around to it this weekend, I'll upload one somewhere and post it here. But don't hold your breath.... it is going to be a really alcohol-feuled weekend.

I actually was going to call earlier this week and buy the strap for it, but got distracted and forgot. I think I would prefer the strap honestly, but when I bought it, the bracelet version was on sale and too much of a bargain to pass up.

Edit: I just searched for a pic on my computer and remembered that my PC imploded a month ago. All pics lost. I'll take more soon.

Watchuseek.com, Timezone.com, PMWF.com, rolexforums.com will get you started. I'm only a member of WUS, but I hear the others mentioned a lot.

Just wondering where can you go to buy watches that are like $1k+?

I live near toronto (Canada) and the only place I can think of to go is holt renfrew, but I would imagine that the watches there are marked up ridiculously compared to other places that sell them (if those even exist). I also don't know what kind I want so I can't go into the store of a specific designer because that would be a lot a work and I hate shopping lol.
