Get yourself a vintage Bulova Accutron. It uses (of all things) a tuning fork to pawl a wheel 360 times per second.

The sweep on the second hand is as smooth as butter.

can people who have ordered online please PM me with their experiances with different places. Buying in Australia watches are almost double the prices from online retailers.

Also if anyone from Australia has imported watches from these sites how they dealt with customs, duty/gst whatevs

I don't know too much about watches at all but I'm trying to find a good one in the $300-$700 price range. I like these 3 a lot...

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...LinkType=PDPZ1

http://kseiya.zoovy.com/product/S-SB...t_SBPP003.html

http://www.seiyajapan.com/product/S-...5-SCVS013.html

Could somebody tell me which of these watches is the highest quality? Maybe explain the differences between them to me that I can't see visually? Or suggest another watch similar in style in my price range?

I don't know anything about that first one. The other two are both very nice pieces for the money.

The SBPP003 has the 7T62, which is coincidentally one of those movements I mentioned earlier where the chrono second hand moves at 5hz instead of the usual 1hz. I really like that piece's retro feel. You don't see these on the secondary market very much, people tend to hang on to them. The only downside to this watch IMO is that it's only 50m water resistant.

The SCVS013 is also pretty rarely seen on the secondary market. It's a smaller piece but wears a little bit bigger than its size due to it's small bezel. The 6R15 is a heckuva movement for a workhorse. It's a big improvement over the previous Seiko workhorse 7S26 as it both hacks and handwinds and seems to be much more accurate. There is a very, very wide range of styles featuring the 6R15, if you like the retro feel of the SBPP003 you might like the SARB031, for example.

snipes, i like that last one a lot. that omega is nice too. what's the price of each?

the first and last are both iwc aquatimer's the latter is just the newer version. the first retails for like 4200 (the base model which is i think what is shown) and the last like 4400 from what i can see online. the omega retails for like 3500 but i think you can get bigger grey market discounts on the omega than the iwcs.

i think i may try and by something just slightly used on timezone this time around which from looking around makes it seem like the omega would be 1800-2k and the iwcs right around 3k. i think i like the last iwc best but my only qualm is that right now i have 3 watches and 2 of them are already iwc's so i would maybe feel a little silly buying another? idk

I'd definitely go for the IWC Aquatimer, hard to choose between the old one and the new one, but I think that in the end I'd go for the new model.

Just like you said there's one on Timezone for around 3k that to me seems like a steal, here in Sweden it retails at twice the price, around 6k US.

yea i probably wouldn't own 3 of the same company's watches unless i absolutely ****ing loved them. but i'm guessing these IWCs you posted are a very different style from what you currently have by them

also, that all black IWC for $6,500 is sexy as hell

I tried on the 09 Aquatimer (3rd in your first post) a few months ago and god damn it's good looking. Bezel on it just pops, so sexy. The bracelet system is neat on them too if you're into changing from strap to bracelet a lot.

yea i have these two which are different but still with a small collection does seem odd to have 3 of the same brand when there are so many cool brands out there. they just make so many awesome watches that fit my price range:

any other suggestions for sporty watches? i am looking to buy one sometime this spring/summer. prob looking mostly at divers? and maybe want a rotating bezel since none of my current watches have one.

That IWC is sick, jsnipes. I like Omegas too but personally I don't like the 007 on the second hand.

jsnipes, who cares if you have 3 IWCs. That sporty one with the rubber is just sick. I would get that one imo.
